beautiful spot in the garden
The property is right in the middle of the glorious botanical garden, with a beautiful view. During the day, there are people walking in the garden in front of the deck - it is in the gardens after all - but it's worth it for the view, and the tranquility morning/evening when the gardens are closed.
Great weekend away, very cozy cottage!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Camellia cottage, it was great for a family getaway and quite private despite the location in the gardens. The fireplace was also very warm and nice to sit around! Communication about access and getting into the property was very good and we had no problems finding the cottage or getting inside. One of the rooms/beds was a bit damp from the weather, and some linen was a bit dirty, but overall we were happy with the quality of the cottage and would definitely stay again sometime!
Thanks for your comments. I’m happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed your stay with us. I hope that you’ll come to stay with us again soon. Don’t hesitate to call if there is anything we can help you with
Great property with a lovely warm fire.
You are staying in the grounds of the Botanic Gardens which is lovely but the gardens security personnel are there for the visitors and don't know about the accomodation. The rangers however are very helpful!
Great location but facilities need upgrading
Its location is wonderful, bowled over by the views and aspect. However there are some less than satisfactory features I would like to draw your attention to.
The first issue was with keys. On our first night, we had to call for help when we closed the connecting door between the lounge room and the hallway. It locked and left us unable to get to the ensuite bedroom as the set of keys which originally let us into that part of the house were left on the hall table after having locked the outer door. Fortunately you were able to contact Linda, who was able to come with her master key. We kept wondering why there were two different sets of keys and how it was even possible to lock an inner door merely by closing it. If it is considered necessary, then adequate warning notices should be posted for unsuspecting guests like us.
Bedrooms. The master bedroom does not have a wardrobe, any drawers, not even a hook to hang any clothes on. The twin beds are positioned so that one completely blocks access to the wardrobe. No mirrors in any of the bedrooms.
Two extra blankets were supplied but more would be useful, particularly as the doonas are too hot for some. A top sheet on each bed ought be supplied for the folk who do not want to use the doona – only the master bed had a top sheet..
Main bathroom. There is no towel rail at all, not even a hook to hang towels or clothes on.
Laundry. It seemed odd that we could not access the laundry (as confirmed by Linda).
Kitchen. An odd assortment of dinner plates, some of them chipped. Only three soup/cereal/dessert bowls ! The fridge had no ice cubes and there was no tray to make any. Dishwashing liquid was provided but no Jif to properly clean the stove. After having food items frozen in the non-freezer section of the fridge, we discovered that it was set on the coldest setting. We had to throw out french beans and eggs which had become unusable. Previous tenants?
Microwave would not work where it was located on arrival (on the bench close to the dining table). Neither power point there would work. We moved the microwave to the other side of the kitchen (near the kettle and toaster) and then it worked OK on those power points.
Power points. They all need testing. As well as the difficulty with the microwave, at least one in one of the bedrooms appeared to be working OK but when the occupant checked her iPhone in the morning it had not charged at all. We would like to stay again in the spring but would ho
