Welcome to your own magnificent Country House nestled in a lush and romantic garden setting.
Once the Telegraph Hotel and Clunes' original pub, Keebles is a unique property set right in the heart of Victoria's goldfields.
It is a picturesque 30 minute drive to Daylesford in the east or Ballarat to the south.
Clunes itself abounds in history, being the location of Victoria’s first gazetted gold discovery. It is also Australia’s only accredited Booktown.
The township is home to writers and book purveyors alike and in May each year a festival is dedicated to all things bibliophile.
Keebles itself is a grand two-storey brick building built in 1863 that also served as the Cobb and Co Coach terminal.
There was once a ballroom upstairs and pub downstairs.
Australia’s founding fathers also met there to discuss federation and the Constitution in the 1890s.
The building has had a varied history, serving at various times as a hospital and a girls’ boarding school.
Even movie stars have graced its elegant rooms — during the filming in Clunes of box office hits such as Mad Max and Ned Kelly.
There are now 5 gracious double bedrooms located upstairs, all with high ceilings, chandeliers, televisions, queen sized beds and ¬ensuites.
Downstairs you will find both informal and formal sitting rooms, a library complete with billard table, as well as an elegant conservatory which opens onto the paved terrace area.
Keebles has 2 elegant dining rooms and a commercially equipped kitchen.
The house abounds with art, including a number of original works by important Australian painters.
The magnificent gardens meander all the way down to the Creswick Creek where gold was originally discovered.
Here you will find an elegant gazebo, a petanque lawn and a chip and putt golf course.
Whilst Keebles is the ideal property to get your group together, it also affords you myriad areas to rest and relax in privacy. The garden is a verdant balm to your soul.
Treat yourself to a unique experience that will afford you and your family or friends with beautiful memories.
