About this property

Welcome to " Cottage de Cielo "! Our 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage is custom built and PERFECT for a romantic get-away or. There is a stunning ocean view, a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, and a short bike ride to town. If you are a nature lover, this place is perfect as it is nestled in a tranquil cacao forest. You will wake up to sounds of wild parrots and howler monkeys. You will go to sleep to the sounds of the ocean and our nocturnal friends, and occasional fruit falling on the roof.

Our home sits on an ocean view mountain top on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, near Playa Cocles. We are located 300 meters from the beach on a working cacao farm.
Our community is a very diverse one. We have many different nationalities as well as the local indigenous and Afro Caribbean locals. This makes this area very unique and like no other part of Costa Rica. You can visit local tribal areas and listen to Reggae bands at night. Our international cuisine is found in many restaurants and of course local Caribbean seafood. Surfing, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking , zip line canopy, and many other activities are available.

Do not stay here

No ac, no hot water, the directions were written by an idiot, filthy, the “shower” is dangerous and not worth the risk, the tub is disgusting and both would be in freezing water. The floor would be more comfortable than the bed. No privacy. The owner of the property can not communicate and when he does he lies. We asked for ac and hot water to be fixed he asked us to mess with his electrical then said someone would come fix it which never happened. He also expected us to blindly sit at the property all day and wait for a resolution. We left after 5 hours as a result and he refused to refund or respond to vrbo. The only benefit was 6” gecko that lived in there eating all the bugs that were infesting to room. Don’t waist your money rent through another platform all together if you want to enjoy your vacation.

The view was spectacular. The walk up and down great. Saw, monkeys, sloth, Tuscan, parrots. Even saw a sloth on the ground. Super exciting. The power went out many times, it’s Costa Rica, I get it, but still annoying. We were there for 14 days, did not have it cleaned while we were there. Nor were towels or bedding changed. I asked about it and he said it cost $20???? I didn’t expect everyday but two or three times would have been great. The outside furniture was dilapitated, some of the lights were hanging from the sockets, ceiling fan was gross,many cobwebs and dirt in the corners. The hot tub worked but when the water came out of the jets it sprayed everywhere and the water smelled awful. I got out immediately. Felt dirty. I thin we caught 10 salamanders and there were numerous places for them to get in even with the doors closed. Just to casual and dirty for me.

Property was overbooked and the host never canceled the reservation, only partially refunded the payment. They did not respond to calls or messages.

Beautiful little studio

Was a nice newer studio with a great ocean view. We enjoyed our last couple days here. The only thing was that you will definitely need 4 wheel drive to get up the hill.
