Villa on Bozburun Peninsula, Marmaris, Turkey - Secluded, Peaceful Location Surrounded by Pine Forest in an Authentic Village
- english, Turkish
About Ayfer Woolley
I am an UK trained landscape designer and live between UK, Istanbul and Hisaronu. We spent many family holidays in the villa not only for the sun and the sea but beautiful fresh early spring with an abundance of wild flowers as well as calm and quiet pleasantly hot extended summers well into late autumn. I wanted to share the pleasures of this unspoilt peninsula in a beautiful setting with discerning guests.
Why Ayfer Woolley chose Hisarönü
I love in this area the way pine cladded forests descend right into the water, reflecting on clear turquoise waters creating beautiful sceneries with layers of mountains as the backdrop. There are several small authentic fishing villages on the peninsula with waterfront restaurants, cafes serving delicious home made Turkish cuisine at very reasonable prices as well as sophisticated marinas with exquisite international cuisine. Village people are friendly and welcoming and treat the villa guests as their own and want them to leave with happy memories and a good impression of the country. Weekly local market is good for shopping for local produce and gifts.
What makes this Villa unique

Heaven in Hisaronu
An absolutely lovely villa that photographs cannot possible do justice to. Outside, the stunning gardens are scented with clouds of fragrant jasmine and are full of colourful and exotic plants. Real thought has gone into the design and planting so that you feel like you are stepping into a botanic paradise.
The villa itself is a home, not a sterile holiday rental. There is real love here and the spirit of the place is enhanced by thoughtful design. Not just the furnishings and equipment but the clever layout, lighting and overall quality of finish is exceptional.
The pool is utterly fabulous. Long enough to swim, deep enough to dive and situated on a peaceful, private, secluded terrace that is full of flora. There are
Ayfer has created a little piece of paradise and we are grateful to her for allowing us to share it.
I am so pleased that you liked the villa and enjoyed your stay Claire. You described the natural beauty and the peaceful location of the villa, gardens and the pool, it’s authentic, vibrant, homely spirit better than me :) look forward to welcoming you again and again anytime, you’ve been excellent guests, thank you 😊
Beautiful tranquil villa
We had a wonderful holiday in this villa, the rustic style is lovely with loads of interesting pictures and artefacts, lots of space and handy things in the kitchen. The outdoor space is also great with lots of different areas to sit and take in the view, to eat and relax. The pool is amazing, good size and surrounded by flowers and trees, only downside for us was that the shallow end was too deep for our daughter (4y) to touch the bottom but sorted with armbands!
The setting is beautiful with views across a wooded valley and its really tranquil without feeling isolated - it's in a small village and a bakery within walking distance where you can get fresh warm bread for breakfast.
We spent a lot of time just relaxing in the villa during our stay, but also great to have a car so you can explore the area around.
Highly recommended, I'd love to come back. Only downside as others have said is that it's tricky to find until you get your bearings of the area - we were very glad to be taken there by local taxi who knew the area. The owner was very helpful before and during our stay with recommendations for taxis and car hire etc as well as tips on nice places to visit while we were there.
Glorious quiet hideaway villa.
A unique villa built into the hillside in quiet village, furnished with beautiful Turkish rugs, traditional copper pans, colourful pottery tiles, brimming with personal objects, including a piano, making it feel very homely and a very friendly cat. Delightful garden with plants cascading down from one terrace to the next until you reach the utterly private swimming pool. Wonderfully quiet, just birdsong and of course calls from the Mosque at prayer time. Pretty terraces beside the house, with built in stone BBQ just outside kitchen and beside it 2 large sofas and stone table for outdoor meals. Any window gives lovely view of the garden. 10 mins. by car to the beach.
Ayfer always available on the phone to fix any problems. This villa will appeal to anyone who likes the traditional. We loved it.
Plumbing slightly quirky but endless supply of hot water. Steep road up to drive, best to arrive in daylight to find the villa.
A wonderful wonderful house in a beautiful, peaceful location
Apart from the slight challenge of finding the house first time .. everything about it was lovely. The house has so many different places to sit .. morning on the first floor balcony with views over the sea; breakfast at the little table in the shade outside the kitchen window, lunch at the long table on the other side of the kitchen looking out over the extraordinary gardens cascading down to the pool; afternoons by the pool (which we shared, very amicably, with a few, very non-confrontational and friendly bees - who, like us, seemed to love the gorgeous flowers which were everywhere), evening meals again at the long table under the pergola of vines, late night chats at the loungers by the (unused - more than warm enough for us) fireplace in the garden; then to bed in the amazing master bedroom with four poster and views down the room through the windows to the distant (an easy 1km walk) sea. A house we'd love to go back to. Everything one could ask in a luxury villa.
You were most welcome Oli, all the locals you met think so also, what a friendly nice visitors you were! Thank you for your complimentary remarks, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to having you back at the villa soon.
This is a really lovely house where we have now returned three times.
Yet again we had a lovely stay at Villa Ayfer, this year with an even bigger and better area for outside dining and BBQ. The property is very close to the newly opened Carian Way walk which is well worth exploring. We very much hope to return to this idyllic spot yet again.
I am really pleas d that you enjoyed your stay. It was lovely to have you as our guests at villa Ayfer again. Look forward to welcoming you in the future.
An idyllic property
We have just returned from holidaying for the second year in a row in Ayfer's beautiful house. For us - a family of five with children aged 21, 18 and 14, it provided the perfect holiday, which is why we returned. I hope that we will be able to come back many times in the future. The location is spot on - slightly off the beaten track, and therefore peaceful and away from the bustle of Marmaris, but also within easy reach of all that Marmaris has to offer. It is also close to some truly wonderful beaches (with opportunities for catamaran sailing very close by) some lovely seaside villages, boat trips and delicious fish restaurants. There is also some spectacular culture within easy reach, including ancient Greek cities like Knidos (a sunset trip is a must) and Lycian rock tombs in Dalyan. But what makes it all so special is that the house itself, with its beautiful garden and pool, is a really lovely place just to be if you don't feel like going anywhere at all!
Special interest holidays:
Horse riding, walking, water sports.
20 minutes stroll or few mins drive to the quiet beach with a small number of restaurants and bars away from the crowds and tour boats. The village is in a designated nature reserve area with planning restrictions for new build with only 2 storeys protecting the unspoilt individual ethnic character of the village.
Hisaronu is 90 minutes drive from the airport at Dalaman which is a 3 hour direct flight from the UK. We can arrange transfers and car hire at excellent rates if required. There is a regular minibus service to Marmaris within a few minutes' walk from the villa.
Hisaronu is only 15km away from vibrant Marmaris with plenty going on. Marmaris is a charismatic town bursting with shops, boutiques, bars, traditional cuisine and fish restaurants, regular boat trips around the bays and across to Greek islands Rhodes and Symi ! Hisaronu village Centre - 0.5km, Orhaniye 3.5km, Selimiye 20km, Icmeler - 12km, Turunc - 15km, Marmaris - 20km.
You are right in the middle of a beautiful scenic route around the unspoilt Bozburun peninsula within short driving distances to traditional, rural, boat building and yacht servicing friendly seaside villages. There are lots of things to do if you want to explore further a field or just do something a bit more adventurous on local soil, here are just a few of the activities and excursions you’ll find along the road to Marmaris, or through the many agents in Marmaris town centre. There are 2 water theme parks in Marmaris - a great day out for families.
Quad bike safaris
Hobbie cat sailing, kayaking and windsurfing
There are 2 options within Hisarönü Köyü itself, the first being the Hisar Country Club, the second just next to it is called the Dortnal Ranch. Both have a range of horses of all sizes and will take you on a ride according to your ability.
You may find organised mountain bike tours offered in Marmaris, or you can rent your own bikes and explore. The Hisar Country Club does a tour of the village area and may hire bikes for your own exploration.
