About Stella Clery-Ackland
We are an Irish family who own 3 holiday trulli houses in the wonderful region of Puglia. We all love to visit this area as it is still unspoiled and rural in its simplicity. Yet the quality of the food, restaurants, bars etc is outstanding. We love to visit together enmasse, or simply pop down for a quick break. We have taken considerable care when renovating and restoring each house to capture the spirit of the aincent trulli houses, and decorated each to a high standard. We hope you will love the house and the region as much as we do!
Stella Clery-Ackland purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Stella Clery-Ackland chose Ceglie Messapica
We fell in love with this area of Italy as it reminds us of summer holidays in the west of Ireland when we were young. It still retains it's rural simplicity yet provides an excellent high standard of restaurants, shops and bars. The beaches are nearby and are very italian in nature.. We particularly love the people of this area. They cannot do enough for us and are really pleasant and welcoming. Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica are really old towns which have maintained their heritage and history very well. We also love to visit Martina Franca and Cisternino for their restaurants and outdoor markets. It's easy to get to the area via Bari, Brindisi or even Naples airports. Or by ferry from Greece.
What makes this Villa unique
We particularly love the outdoor living at the trulli. We spend most of our time on the land or around the pool. The house is on a quiet road and are only minutes from each other. Trulli Stella and Trulli Mimosa share a drive, but are still very secluded and private from each other. The properties are fully equipped with almost everything you could possible need for cooking and enjoying the gardens and pool. The cooking lessons and private dining provided by our caretaker are extremely special! She will teach you how to make the pasta and can stoke up the pizza oven and show you how it all works - A great treat at a very very reasonable cost.

Wonderful oasis in Puglia
The photos do not do this property justice! The house, gardens and pool are all beautiful. Stella, her sister and Anna Marie are so helpful, with recommendations for the local area (the guide book became our bible) and they had thought of everything in the villa. This really isn't like the usual villa experience where you can't find enough cutlery or pots and pans - the house is so well equipped and we were greeted by a very thoughtful welcome basket on arrival. The house and gardens are so well looked after and our only slight complaint was that the pool was too cold - but that was the fault of the unusually cold weather in the run up to our visit. We had such a lovely time - the children called it their magical fairy house and we want to thank Stella for letting us stay in her beautiful home.
Thank you for taking time to tell us about your holiday at Trulli Stella. We are so happy you enjoyed our Trulli. It is our second home and we also love being there. The weather this year has been very unusual, but hopefully you will visit us again sometime and experience the full itialian sunshine. Stella and Mike
Everything about this holiday was magic.
Beautifully presented Trulli House
Lovely Trulli in a great location. So peacefully and relaxing. The Trullie has been well restored and modernized to today’s needs and the outdoor kitchen has everything you could want.
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Trulli Stella and the house was everything you expected. We hope to welcome you back for another Italian holiday.
A beautiful property in a quiet rural location but only 10 mins from Ostuni and Ceglia Mesapica
A great restoration of an old trulli. The outdoor kitchen was superb with all the kit and appliances you would ever need (including a wine fridge!) We ate breakfast and lunch here and never used the indoor kitchen. Pool area was plenty big enough with chairs/loungers for everyone. It was 38 degrees pretty much the entire time we were there so the Air Con was brilliant. The property manager, Anna Maria, could not have been more helpful and is only 10 mins away. I would be happy to recommend this Trulli to anyone looking to holiday in the Puglia region.
A classy pad in which to chill
A beautifully restored and extended trulli, very thoughtfully executed. Great outside kitchen beside the pool was all we ever used. Comfortable bedrooms and all set in mature grounds and olive grove in a quiet rural setting. We enjoyed visiting the local towns and imbibing the Puglian wine and cuisine. A truly relaxing week with the perfect 'base camp'.
We are so happy you had a lovely holiday. We adore our Trulli and are delighted when our guests have a good time. We hope you return again some day and explore a bit more of this fascinating region of Italy. Stella and Mike
Beautiful Trulli in the heart of Puglia
We loved our visit to Trulli Stella! It is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. It's convenient to great restaurants, wonderful historic sites, and perfect for a relaxing day by the pool, (though weather during our mid-October visit was a bit chilly for swimming). Anna Maria was warm and welcoming, and we are grateful for the hospitality she showed us on behalf of the property owners.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Trulli Stella. The local restaurants are really wonderful and we are happy you had a good experience of the local cuisine and got to see the local countryside. Please let us know if you would like to return to Trulli Stella, we would love to welcome you again.

The Trulli are a accessible to the public and private beaches scattered along both the Adriatic (20 mins) and Mediterranean (40 mins) coasts of Puglia. They cost around €4 per person per day, and maybe the same for the car.
The Trulli are about 1 hour drive from Bari International Airport, 45 minutes from Brindisi. Bari and Brindisi are also Ferry ports.
Ostuni 8km. Ceglie Messapica 5km. San Michaele 3.5km.
Lecce approx 1 hour and 15 mins. Matera 1 hour 15 mins drive. Coast 20 minutes.
