Why Gina Cooper chose Copythorne
Great location for exploring the New Forest and the Hampshire coast. Wonderful walks, beautiful scenery- Good for spotting the new forest ponies and other animals who wander the forest and heath land, such as cows, pigs and sheep. Deer are a common sight too and we often get a group that visit the back garden in the early evening! There are lots of traditional country pubs and tea shops to enjoy a drink or a meal after a long walk. There are large shopping malls in Southampton and Bournemouth as well as cinemas and theaters. We're close to the coast, with lovely beaches at Lepe and New Milton, from which you'll get a good view of the Isle of Wight- It only takes an hour on the ferry from Lymington to visit the for the day. There are so many activities and tourist attractions in Hampshire and Dorset to suit everybody's taste: lots of water sport activities for young people, plenty of beautiful gardens to wander around and view, historic forts on the coast and lots of wildlife to find.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage has a large garden surrounding it with a stream running through it to the river, which runs along the front of the house and through the forest. The garden leads into 1 acre of private ancient woodland for you to explore. Deer regularly visit the garden and woodland as well as a wide range of birds. A fifteen minute walk up the lane and past the farm will take to you to two lovely pubs serving drinks and great food. From the front of the house you look directly out into the forest itself where new forest ponies will spend their days looking for food. The cottage itself is simply decorated but, cosy and warm. It's a wonderfully peaceful setting, while being within driving distance of many great places to visit.

A week in the forest.
Very comfortable with an enchanting garden. We walked down the lane most days and saw wandering pigs, donkeys and ponies. The cottage has character and plenty of room for five adults, a baby, and two dogs.
Unfair rating of previous review
Before we arrived we got really worried about this place we were heading to based on the review in June. I think this review was unfair. Yes, the place is vintage in appearance, but it is not unclean. It has lovely bespoke crittal windows and has 1970s features, but that doesn't mean it isn't authentic. The deer come in the garden which is lovely, and its location is fantastic. The garden is lovely. It isn't cold and it has a hot shower. It does have a sensitive kitchen smoke alarm but we found it fine. Don't believe every review you read, that's what I would say. Yes, it is not recently decorated, it has carpets rather than laminate floors and old windows. but it is a lovely old cottage in the middle of the forest, that is perfectly capable of a nice place to stay. I think if you updated it too much you would spoil its authenticity. I like it.
Tranquil and homely
We absolutely loved our stay would definitely stay again x
the property is in a good location, it needs a lot of updating and the cleanliness wasn't good at all.
Simple and comfortable. Amazing garden and woodland with deer visiting every day.
So relaxing and peaceful. We love walking so it was perfect being right in the forest. Only a 10 minute walk to the local pub. Had a lovely meal and a few drinks. Passed lots of cute piglets, ponies, cows, donkeys and sheep on the walk home. A very special place. Will definitely come again. Thank you
