About Angela Busuttil
Hi my name is Angie, I am Maltese and currently live in Hampton in Middlesex, London. My fondest memories are my wonderful holidays by the sea in Marsescala. I go back at least once a year to visit my lovely family there. As we now have a family of our own we wanted a place that we could use for our holidays. I had no trouble deciding where to buy and as soon as I saw this apartment my heart just flew as it had everything I ever dreamed of. A glorious sea view, a large relaxing and cool terrace to sit and drink a cool glass of wine in the evenings, lots of open space, clean and light with a contemporary feel. So we tried it out this summer and I have to say its super! The terrace is wonderful, everything is very close by and best of all its quiet and peaceful without being remote.
Angela Busuttil purchased this Apartment in 2011
Why Angela Busuttil chose San Tumas
I have been coming to Marsascala since I was a little girl and have always loved the feel of the place and of course the beautiful beaches. Its so unspoilt and untouristy. A lot of Maltese come here for their holidays so you will always find the locals nearby. Sliema, Buggiba and St Julian's are so built up and busy now, I wanted a place that people could feel the real Malta yet feel at home. Its quiet, peaceful and safe here. I would happily walk alone at night (something I would never do in England). We are blessed with many lovely restaurants and bars and bustling nightlife is only 10 minutes away in Marsascala town.
What makes this Apartment unique
This new build apartment has been furnished and decorated to a high standard. Everything in it is clean safe and ready for you to relax and chill. There are very few penthouse apartments in Malta offering the standard, quality and comfort that we want to offer our guests. Its very important to us that you feel as comfortable and welcome as possible - so we look forward to welcoming you to Malta to this wonderful original little fishing village of Marsascala. Kind regards Angie Busuttil

Lovely modern villa if you are looking for a base in Malta
The apartment is lovely - top floor so decent views but you need to be fit if you don’t like lifts.
The main village is a small vibrant port with lots of locals that have it a nice atmosphere
The local beaches are very small, packed and not comfortable but we are used to the Gower coast so spoilt at home
The owner was lovely as we were told on arrival we might struggle to get a taxi to the airport and panicked a bit - well a lot but she was lovely - sorted online in the end with welcome pick ups which we strongly recommend
This would be a great base if you had a car and could travel
Thanks for your review so glad you liked the apartment and views. Its hard when you are used to large beaches - the beach is great for young families, and very close by (to the left of the beach) the coast is more suited to others who like to dive and explore the clean clear waters. I much prefer this area on the smooth rocks as I am not keen on laying on the sand.
The Penthouse has great views and a large terrace with a lift, however if you are not keen on lifts then you are right, the stairs will keep you fit!
We very much appreciate you staying and hopefully look forward to seeing you another time.
Fantastic apartment !
As soon as we arrived we loved it ! Nice new building with immaculate entrance . Glad that there was a lift . It was in a nice quiet area but near enough to walk to the town where there are plenty of restaurants and bars which don't feel too touristy and are very easy to walk to , our favourites being Legends and Bongo Nyah. We also did a lovely walk to Marsaxlokk fishing village with some stunning scenery . Apart from that we just chilled and spent a lot of time on the lovely sunloungers on the balcony . Would definitely recommend this apartment and hopefully we will return !!
Dear Anne thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are really delighted that you had a lovely time. We very much look forward to having you stay again! - Also thank you for mentioning resaurants as they are really helpful to our guests. Many thanks once again Angie
Very spacious, light and well equipped apartment! Could do with a new double bed!
We stayed in this lovely pent-house apartment from 30.10.18-05.11.18 and we had a superb stay. We were made very welcome by Rose and it was great to find it all very clean! The asset of the pent- house apartment is definitely the balcony which is very spacious and has a beautiful sea view. It’s very local to the town centre with plenty of restaurants and cafes. We would definitely come to stay again but as my husband and I are both quite tall people we found the double bed and mattress quite uncomfortable.
The appartment was very nice. It was clean and well equipped.
The appartment was in a nice area and had everything you need. The beach is roughly a 10 minute walk in one direction at the end of the street and the town with plenty of nice places to eat is about 10 minute walk in the other direction. There was a bus stop at the end of the street too. Although we didn't get a bus from there we did use the bus from a different town and they are comfortable and air conditioned and cheap (2€ per person).
We hired a car, which made our holiday more fun but a word of warning, the parking in
the street is extremely difficult (I got a parking ticket!) This is not a criticism of the place but something to be aware of.
Malta is a beautiful place and Gozo and Comino are a must see. There are lots feasts (religious celebrations) in the summer and fire works too, they were not bothersome and just add to the experience. We would definitely recommend the appartment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted that you had such a lovely time, and for giving so much information that will help other guests. Thank you for mentioning the car parking situation, I am so sorry you got a ticket - what a pain... I shall ensure to tell future guests to be careful.
We loved having you stay and very much hope to see you another time.
A really nice apartment in a lovely location
Had a lovely time in Mascala, and the apartment was really lovely. We never got to meet Rose, but was shown around the apartment by her daughter and son in law who were very friendly and helpful. Did have a few issues with no hot water but it was easily rectified after talking to Angie. The main bedroom was a nice size, with lots of storage, however a lot of the wardrobe shelves, and floor was taken up with bedding, mats etc., but wasn’t really a problem as the chest of drawers was more than adequate for a week holiday. The screens on the lounge window and main bedroom window is a great idea as by opening doors gave a nice cool airflow through the apartment without having to use the air conditioning too much. Plenty crockery, pans etc for our needs available and for using the dishwasher (which we didn’t). Unfortunately I did find the sun beds a little uncomfortable and one was split at the bottom, however there was a choice of dining tables with two (which I didn’t really think there was a need for. The location for us was ideal, and there was a variety of restaurants within a five minute walk to choose from. The small beach was quite lovely and the marina so nice with quite a number of bars and restaurants along side. Buses into Valetta were around every 15 minutes and to Marsaxlokk (really worthwhile) every hour from the bottom of the road. We had a bottle of water and bread waiting for us which was much appreciated. I did think that if ther was a welcome pack advising of disposal of refuse and recycling along with doctors and pharmacy and where to catch bus for main routes would have been helpful along with possibly a few restaurant recommendations and supermarket. ( The drawer which had the WI FI info was the only information to be found, apart from manuals on appliances). My husband and myself had a lovely time and would give 5* if it hadn’t been for the sun beds and over furnished balcony and lack of information package. I would like to thank Angie for her help and say thank you for providing a lovely accommodation.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. I am delighted that you had such a wonderful time. You comments are extremely helpful thank you. I shall look into replacing the subbed and getting rid of the spare unnecessary table (thank you for mentioning). I have left information about buses, refuse what to do etc but these must have gone walkabout. I shall rectify this immediately - again thank you for letting me know. It was lovely to have you stay Linda, you would be welcome back at any time.
Kind regards. Angie
Lovely apartment very comfortable great terrace which we used a lot
Great penthouse stayed before and just as pleasant as last visit
Near bus although we had a rental car lots of amenities in St Thomas Bay
Beach was lovely used mainly by locals nice restaurants around especially Legends
How lovely it was to have you stay with us again. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write a review. We are so glad you had such a lovely time.
Wishing you all the best
The gorgeous shallow sandy beach is only a 2 mins away. Its small but safe and very clean and you will find that mostly the locals swim there. There are plenty of places to sunbathe on the smooth flat rocks, and to swim in the deeper areas with clear fresh water. There is a great bar/restaurant on the beach offering very reasonable priced food. Discover the amazing walks to the Munxar Peninsular along the white cliffs that overlook the fish farming fens.
Luqa Malta's only airport is 20mins away. There is a very reliable taxi service directly at the airport that will charge you around €20 each way to the flat. They have someone there day and night. You will be met at the apartment by the lovely 'Rose' who will show you around and answer any questions you may have. You can hire a car very reasonably from the airport (about 20-25 Euros per day inclusive of fully comprehensive insurance).
Malta is only 17 by 9 miles. Because its so tiny everything is very very close. you can get from the furthest distance point to point in about 45 mins. A car is really helpful and great fun. You can hire a small air conditioned car for about 25 Euros a day including all insurance. But the buses are also excellent, they are air-conditioned and take you everywhere. We have made a book up of all the places to see and visit, the trips available, bus timetables, restaurants we recommend and so on.
Its daunting when you arrive at a new place, not knowing where everything is. So hopefully we have made it easy for you by making up a welcome pack showing you were to go what to do and what to see etc. In the apartment you will find we have collated leaflets of trips, bus timetables, as well as books on Malta that you can read up on its glorious history. A '91 Arriva' bus can be caught at the bottom of the road which takes you to straight to Valetta the capital of the island. There are plenty of transport options and tours available and we shall be happy to recommend trusted taxis and car hire companies should you need them. There is a small shop round the corner called D&F Things Stationary, which we lovingly call 'the shop that never moves' due to its spelling of 'Stationary' with an 'a' rather than an 'e'. This family run shop owned by the lovely Dino and Francesca, is like a tardis and sells everything you could possibly need - including; wine, beer, freshly baked Maltese bread (amazing), incredibly farm fresh vegetables and fruit at supermarket prices. If you don't fancy cooking, you can grab some really cheep delicious food from the Pastizzeria down the road from 'Norbert' - try a ‘Pastizzi’ (small savory pasty made out of ricotta or peas), or try ‘Hobz biz-Zejt’ (the Maltese tuna roll) great for on the way to the beach, or a slice of pizza or timpana (baked macaroni) all delicious and very reasonable. Save some bread to throw in the sea and watch the thousand of fishes come to hungrily eat it up! and you will get a free fish pedicure! - forget those fancy spas! - just dangle your feet and let them nibble! There are dozens of excellent restaurants. We would recommend 'Tal Familia' a lovely place specializing in traditional Maltese food using fresh fish caught nearby. The quaint fishing village of Marsaxlokk is only a ten minute drive and has many lovely restaurants and cafes to sit and while away the time.
