We have tried to create a comfortable house with modern amenities yet retaining some period style. The location was chosen because of the superb views, proximity to the town and its excellent facilities.

Why Christine Barrows chose Ambleside
We feel so lucky to have a house in the heart of the lake district. It is just above the town , in a quiet cul de sac with views of the fells, yet only 3 minutes walk from the centre of town (five minutes to walk back!) and offering private parking. The house is equally suited to families or groups of adults and our family and friends use it as a base for walking, climbing, touring the area or just as a restful retreat. The town amenties include five cinema screens, multiple restaurants and bars, a park with tennis , bowls etc and a spa.

Total relaxation! Mountain walks and town amenities can both be reached without a car. Superb long distance views.

Comfortable house in convenient position
Lovely property,well situated for walks and town. Fairly steep walk back to property but well worth it as views beautiful from house,and walks possible from garden.
Long weekend in Ambleside
Lovely lakeland period slate property which was very clean & light which made us feel at ease immediately. Great views from vantage point due to location over the town & hills , in the evening the lights from the town & church were impressive. We would definitely visit again.
We had a wonderful time in Ambleside and loved our accommodations. Everything is what we were hoping for. The house was clean and very well kept up. Had no issues.

Perfect location and home!
A lovely home to stay in for our trip to Ambleside. The house had everything we needed. Christine was great at communicating and answered all our questions. Location is perfect and views are stunning. 2 min walk into centre down the secret path- it’s slightly less enjoyable walking up but good exercise.
We will be visiting again 👍
The lovely lakes....
Wonderful time spent here. Lovely accommodation. Perhaps would have preferred having the correct recycling boxes outside the property to take out for when the recycling lorry came up. We take recycling seriously and spent a few times trying to find the recycling centres only for it not to be open and not to have cardboard etc
This accommodation is in a fab location. We all really enjoyed ourselves.
Many thanks for your review and we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Ambleside. We share your views about recycling so it was disappointing to read about your difficulties finding the local recycling centre. The bin collection contract for the house does not include recycling which is why we provide an information notice in the kitchen giving full details of recycling points in Ambleside (directions, opening times etc). We will of course review it to see if we can make it clearer.
Less than one mile to lakeside.
Buses 5 minute walk. Train station 5 miles (Windermere) with connections to Manchester and Manchester Airport.
Ambleside 0.2 miles. Windermere town 5 miles. Lake Windermere 0.8 miles. Langdale valley 6 miles.
Town: excellent amenities in Ambleside including shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas, park and spa. Country: superb walking and climbing in the immediate area+ places of interest - Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter homes , country parks.
