About Alison or Mauro Sinclair-Leccacorvi
Before moving to France my husband Mauro and I ran a language school in Cheltenham teaching English to foreign students and foreign languages to English students. It was our own business and I was responsible for the teaching and teachers and Mauro was in charge of marketing and admin. After almost 10 years and two small children later we decided it was time for a change. We loved France, had a small holiday home near to Dinard and so we decided to start our new adventure in France before the kids were of school age. We sold up in 2001 and moved to France. In 2003 we finally found the dream home and business all in one! - Manoir Le Cosquer. I'm still teaching English as well as looking after our guests. My husband helps out and also manages a ski chalet & riverside cottage.
Alison or Mauro Sinclair-Leccacorvi purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2003
Why Alison or Mauro Sinclair-Leccacorvi chose Pommerit-le-Vicomte
In 2003 we bought Manoir Le Cosquer and it was love at first sight! Simply driving down the private avenue lined with oak and chestnut trees then arriving to see the most charming 15th century French manoir was simply too much to resist! We live on site part time as our two daughters have now flown the nest and so spend some of our time on our boat in a nearby marina. We love the French way of life, walking to the bakery in the morning for our fresh baguette, enjoying the quiet roads and small local fishing ports, coastal walks, sandy beaches and, of course, the leisurely lunches with fine French wine and cheese! The great benefit is its location because in about 15 minutes you can be visiting some of the most spectacular coastline in Brittany. Lots of rock pools, sandy uncrowded beaches, sailing, & small fishing ports.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Manoir Le Cosquer is surrounded by gardens and copses and then fields beyond so you really are private. But the real convenience of the manoir is that it is in the village and you can walk down the private avenue to the bakery, corner shop, post office, bar/tabac and yet you return to complete privacy. There are no neighbours or houses looking over the property - the closest building is probably 300 metres away! There is also a doctor's surgery in the village which is very comforting if you should feel ill and is particularly reassuring if you are travelling with small children or elderly parents. 7 acres of peace & quiet: great lake & wildlife, gym/games room, indoor table-tennis, boules, badminton, children's play area -swings, slide, & Wendy house.

Grand house, great hosts
Mauro and Alison are the perfect hosts. The house is an amazing space (especially for our larger family of 8 adults and 7 children). Beaches and towns in easy reach. All in all, the ideal way to spend a week on holiday.
Spacious and charming manoir
Manoir Le Cosquer is a fine old house in a lovely part of Brittany. It is well equipped and in easy walking distance of a traditional village with all amenities including a fantastic boulangerie with delicious French pastries! It's a great place to go for all ages, with loads to do for children and teenagers (and grown-ups!). In particular, the beaches are lovely, as are the little quaint villages and towns . Our hosts were really nice and helpful without being at all intrusive. I can really recommend Le manoir for a relaxed and fun holiday.
Beautiful old house deep in peaceful Brittany
We had a wonderfully relaxing week here to mark a family celebration with ages ranging from 15 months to 90. This magnificent old farmhouse is full of rustic charm but has all the modern amenities, and the games room and children's playhouse and swings were an added bonus - as was the small menagerie of ponies, cats, a charming goat called Buddy. The well stocked village store with French bread and wine is just at the bottom of the drive and open 8am to 8pm. Beautiful coastline is not far away, and the long sandy beach at Binic is spectacular. Warm thanks to our helpful hosts, Alison and Mauro.
Beau Manoir rustique
Special interest holidays:
Cycling, walking, painting, chilling out in the gardens with lake views, lots of local fishing ports and marinas with great restaurants and bars, coastal walks, horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, sailing, kayaking, fishing and rock climbing.
15 minute drive to beautiful sandy beaches and the spectacular coastline 'Cotes du Goelo' and 'Granite Rose'. Alternatively, visit the village of Pontrieux with its famous 'lavoirs' and steam train, or visit the chateau de la Roche Jagu with its magnificent gardens and river views.
Try a boat trip round 'Les Sept Isles' or the 'non car' island of Brehat near to Paimpol. Lots of fun things to do in this area for all the family.
By car, the ports of Roscoff and St Malo are 1 hour and 1 hour 20 minutes respectively.
Dinard and Brest airports are about 1 hour away and Rennes is an hour and a half from the manoir.
Other ports a bit further away - Caen is about 3.5 hours, Cherbourg 4 hours and Dieppe is about 5 hours.
Village of Pommerit Le Vicomte with 1800 inhabitants is 300 metres away and has good small shops etc. Pontrieux & Guingamp (10 minutes approx) have lovely town centres, supermarkets and boutiques for shopping. Guingamp also has a well restored Basilica. Pontieux is an historical and artistic charming riverside village with famous lavoirs, traditional markets & festivals plus a 'steam train'. The ports of Paimpol and St Quai de Portrieux are about 20 mins away.
