House in Dartmouth, South Devon, England - Peaceful Location. Short Drive To Local Beaches
About Angela Addy
Both of us have roots in Dartmouth and we had been looking for a property in a nice location there for a while when we found The Stables in 2006. We instantly fell in love with the house and especially with the south facing decking, which can be enjoyed at any time of year. The property did require some refurbishment which took us a number of years to complete. Now we have an easy to care for, very social place to enjoy and share with family and friends. We do live locally (in Totnes another gem of South Devon) but being in the Heart of Dartmouth is still special. It is an easy 5 minute stroll to friendly pubs, great restaurants, unique shops and the bustling harbour.

Why Angela Addy chose Dartmouth
We adore alfresco eating on the terrace, it's a real sun trap.
What makes this House unique
To have a place within a 2 minute walk to town with all Dartmouth has to offer and a garage makes your stay easy and relaxing. The house is open plan with doors opening out on to the terrace, a great place to be with family and friends

Fab house in great location
We loved our week in Dartmouth in this fab house. It had everything we needed for our family holiday, and more, and was in a great location, close to Dartmouth town and harbour. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to go back.
Lovely house, good location
We spent 6 pleasant days in Angela’s lovely house. It is close to the city center, well equipped and has a splendid large terrace. We felt at home from the moment we arrived.
Long Weekend Away
We have just returned from Dartmouth after the Dart Music Festival.
The weather and Dartmouth folk were delightful.
The accommodation was perfect- like home from home - with everything catered for a holiday away.
I would definitely book this property again.
Comfortable home from home!
We loved our stay at The Stables. The house was perfectly situated for an easy walk into the centre. Everything was there that we could possibly need. It was a real home from home. The house was bright and airy with lots of lovely seaside-related decor. The patio was a real sun-trap and we enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine enjoying the sound of the seagulls and the steam train in the distance. We'll definitely be back :-)
Thank you so much for your fantastic comments, it is so lovely to hear our visitors enjoyed our home from home as much as we do. It would be our pleasure to see you again.
Perfect in ideal location
Had a great 4 nights exploring Dartmouth and surrounding area. The town house was perfect, had everything we needed and was a very short stroll to the centre of Dartmouth.
Thank you for your lovely comments, I’m delighted you enjoyed your stay and made the most of our central location. I hope you will visit again.
Lovely House in Dartmouth
A great place to stay for enjoying Dartmouth and the surrounding area.
Special interest holidays:
Water sports available on the river, please see local TIC for further information
Dartmouth is close to many beautiful beaches, the most popular of which is Bantham which is a 30 minute drive, however there are many local beaches including Blackpool sands and Slapton, which are both a 20 minute drive.
Exeter Airport is an hour's drive, however we recommend arriving by car. The alternative would be to arrive by train at Paignton Railway Station, and take the steam train to Kingswear and across to Dartmouth by passenger ferry. This is a very lovely way to start your holiday and the property is only a few minutes walk from the jetty.
At the top of the river is Totnes, a buzzing, bohemian town famous for its coffee shops, restaurants and independent stores. A lovely trip if done by one of the river cruises on offer. Nearby is the beautiful Sharpham Vineyard Estate where you can go for tours, wine tasting sessions or just a stroll through the Vineyard and down to the river. Lovely open air restaurant, feels very European. National Trust properties including Agatha Christie's house and Collaton Fishacre just across the river.
Local Spar on road directly in front of property, large Sainsburys at top of town, M&S, small Co-op in centre of town and a selection of delicatessens all within a five minute walk of the house. Many wonderful and well renowned restaurants to suit all budgets, the pricier restaurants are on the water front but are an absolute must. Mitch Tonks' new "Rock Fish" is cheap and cheerful, and family orientated. Food delicious with a good selection of wines. At least once during your visit, you should eat at Al Frescos, a favourite with the locals for breakfast and brunch. Many traditional pubs and bars, and a good cocktail lounge as well.
All major banks are available.
Local attractions include river trips, tours around the Royal Dartmouth Naval College, walks up to and around Dartmouth Castle, a chocolaterie and Dartmouth Ice Cream Company - delish!
Please see the Dartmouth website for the many events and festivals on offer over the year including the famous Dartmouth music festival, comedy festival, food festival, the new crab festival, and of course Dartmouth Royal Regatta.
