About Tim Byrne
Hi, we are Tim and Pauline. We have recently gone freelance after careers in the restaurant trade and Further Education (Teaching English). We now spend our time between the Lake District and Spain where we love walking in the mountains.
Tim Byrne purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Tim Byrne chose Penrith
We have been coming to the North Lakes for over 20 years and it is our favourite retreat from the bustle of city life. We love walking and even on bank holiday weekends we can be alone in the hills behind Blencathra. We also love the local pubs.

A great place to stay in the Lake District
Clean, tidy, with good facilities, excellent bedrooms and a very nice kitchen. Lovely quiet location with easy access to Penrith and all of the lakes. Good local pubs and restaurants, Cannot fault this place really.
Excellent property. Great location.
Property is located at a very good location from which both Central and Western parts of lake district are easily accessible. Keswick is just 30 mins drive and so is Ullswater and surrounding towns. There's a fantastic pub (Queens Head Inn) at a 5 min walk who do good food and decent drinks served by a very friendly staff.
Property itself is very nicely maintained and is deceptively spacious. Some good design thinking has gone into it. As far as facilities go, all mod cons were available. As far as media and entertainment go, the wifi at the property was quite snappy. Apart from basic Freeview channels, Amazon firestick and Roku media player both were available if you are in mood for a quiet night in. My 4 year old was thrilled to find a Nintendo console which effectively took away the possibility of a quiet night in with a movie. 😀 There's a Sonos speaker with an aparm set to 7. 27 AM which oddly enough plays BBC Merseyside radio (no doubt set by one of the previous holiday-ears). I found it amusing and left it as such. Kitchen has all necessary utensils and gadgets to cook yourself a nice meal or a quick cuppa.
Communication from the owner Mr Tim was excellent and helpful including directions provided, and help with water heater etc.
All in all, it was an excellent stay and we wish we could have gotten away for longer to stay here. We will definitely look to book it again.
A good stay.
Very comfortable. Clean and well-provided with all necessities for a stay. Useful information beforehand to help find the property. Quiet & friendly village. Convenient for eastern Lakes and Eden Valley.
Excellent small village location near many medieval and ancient attractions and Lake District.
Homey. Clean. Comfortable. Great host. All yours. Modern kitchen and bath.
Beautiful cottage, fabulous location
Very comfortable cottage. Beautifully decorated. Host very helpful. Stairs were fine for us but older people may struggle as quite slippy.
Only improvements would be a microwave and shower more powerful.
Mother, Daughter getaway.
The property had everything we wanted. Quiet and peaceful. A different part of the Lakes for us than our usual haunts. Loved it.
