Lovely peaceful 2 bedroom cottage in a village near Penzance.
About Janet Hay
We live here with our five year old son for some of the year and we love it. It is a very quiet and peaceful house, with no through traffic. Although it is an old granite cottage it has lots of natural light and space. The beautiful surrounding countryside offers many walks, which we often take advantage of. Trevaylor wood is nearby with a lovely stream that our son has enjoyed many happy hours playing in. We will be staying nearby and can help with anything you need. Colin surfs, and our son loves the sea and rock pools. There is easy access to our favourite beaches.
Janet Hay purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Janet Hay chose Gulval
We love, Gulval. It is very pretty and green. Close enough to Penzance and local attractions but at the same time quite and very close to the countryside and the sea. It is quiet and snug in the house. Our son enjoys playing in the school field, which is accessed from the back of the house. our neighbour has four very sweet donkeys in a field at the end of our lane, just 50 metres away. They are very friendly and children love them! We do appreciate how easy it is to go to our favourite beaches for surfing and rock pooling. We sometimes cycle to Marazion and Mounts Bay. The village has a very good pub, The Coldstreamer serves very good food in its restaurant and bar snacks. Tremnheere gardens has the Lime Tree Cafe, with good food and cakes.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love the fact that the house is set back from the road through the village, as we have no passing traffic. The garden is really secluded and gets lots of sun. It's really lovely for eating outside while listening to the birds. We enjoy views of the surrounding countryside from most parts of the house, and distant views of the sea. We have seen some gorgeous sunsets from the front bedroom. The cottage is not far from Penzance, with a good choice of shops, restaurants, a small local cinema, leisure centre with a swimming pool, outdoor sea water pool, train station and buses, and the ferry to The Isles of Scilly. The bus from Penzance to St Ives stops at the village. There are lots of local attractions for everyone.

Very peaceful, home from home accommodation with everything needed for a happy holiday.
Good value and excellent facilities provided
Had a lovely week both the cottage & the location are absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend
A little gem
Very spacious Cornish cottage, spotlessly clean, with everything you’d want for 1 week stay to a 6 month stay.
Be careful if you have a large car, the off road parking is not big.
I certainly will return and would recommend to anyone.
5 minutes to several supermarkets and 10 minutes to Penzance.
A perfect break
Had a lovely stay at Sunny Corner. Lovely cosy place central to where we wanted to visit. Thank you for the milk and buns and other bits
Lovely cottage. Was unsure when we booked as there were not many photos and none of the upstairs at all. We were very pleasantly surprised. It is a spacious layout with everything you could need. Very well kept. Clean and tidy. Amazing bathroom. Really wished we had booked two weeks. Welcome pack was a nice touch. Bedrooms are light and airy. Wooden floors throughout. Delightful garden with outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend this cottage. Lovely walks to local pub. Shops within short walking distance.
Felt right at home, beautiful rustic cottage kitted out with absolutely everything you need.
A beautiful cottage, full of light and plenty of space for a family of four. Lovely and clean on arrival. Love the HUGE family bathroom, and although the shower is not a separate power shower it is just as good as. On arrival after our long car journey it was so lovely to see a full pint of milk, saffron buns and a whole pack of clotted cream butter had been laid out for us. There was all the cleaning products needed to run a house and cookware to cook anything from a roast to a stir-fry. Beds and linen super comfortable. Plenty of Towels. The area Gulval is a pretty little village, has a lovely local and welcoming pub just 5mins walk away. The location of the cottage is close to so many of Cornwall’s wonderful attractions, beaches, ancient villages costal walks, hidden coves etc. We are already planning to return to Sunny Corner Cottage. Thanks to owner Janet and house keeper Lizie. Xx
