Upstairs there are master and twin bedrooms overlooking marvellous views over Swaledale, and another double bedroom, along with family bathroom and separate shower room. Whilst not detached, the house is surrounded by pasture where sheep and cattle roam freely and is perfect for walking a dog. The path of the Joobly race runs close to the cottage.
NOTE, please send Enquiry, instead of Request to Book. Week bookings run from Friday to Friday. Whilst the strict cancellation policy remains in place, if govt regulations mean guests are not allowed to visit, a full refund will be offered.
There is a small flagged patio to the front of the house and parking directly in front of the house for two cars, with a nearby little layby for another car if necessary. East Calvert House has free wifi. The cottage has central heating and the living room has a smart TV and open fire, all oil, electric and coal provided. The cottage also includes an Ipod dock and bedlinen, though NOT personal towels. We welcome two dogs and request you mention on booking if bringing dogs, although there is NO CHARGE for dogs. A lovely house for a fantastic holiday in beautiful Swaledale. Free wifi. Short breaks are welcome, if we can fit them in, please contact me to ask! We also welcome 2 nt breaks, £15 less than 3 nt price. Changeover day for week bookings is Friday.

Wonderful location
Dating from 1692, this cotttage is an amazing example of an old Yorkshire cottage. Deep in the heart of Swaledale, the cottage has been well looked after and indeed recently improved in a number of areas. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for a cottage, and the amenities (kitchen, bathroom, utility room, heating, fire etc) all worked very well. The lounge was a lovely place to spend the evenign with a log fire blazing away, and the fact that we were able to do four very different long walks directly from the door was a real bonus.

Excellent cottage in a beautiful location.
This is a really comfortable and well equipped cottage in a superb location. The views across and along Swaledale from the front external seating area are spellbinding and walking from the cottage in any direction is a treat for the senses. If you like quiet and relative isolation you can't do better and yet, the lovely villages of Gunnerside and Muker in the valley are accessible on foot or otherwise, where pubs and a cafe are welcoming. The cottage kitchen is very well equipped and also standing out was the quality and comfort of the beds. These points were particularly appreciated. The ground floors are solid stone and that of the kitchen is slightly below the levels throughout the rest of the accommodation. Access to the kitchen therefore is via a small step down which was not a problem for any of us. Recommended without reservation.

Lovely cottage with stunning views!
Great for a getaway from it all type break. Amazing walks, right from the door. Cottage really clean and beautiful, we all loved it, including our two labradors. Plan ahead for food, or take your own though as nearest shops are a bit of a trip! Good curry house in Leyburn and good fish and chips from Hawes but about 20 minute drive from cottage. Great walking holiday despite changeable weather, lots to do in surrounding area. Richmond, Aysgarth, Wensleydale creamery, all worth a visit. Most pubs very dog friendly. Can't wait to go back but will do a food shop before we go or get Tesco to deliver when we get there. In love with the Dales now, missing it already now we are back home!

Perfect property to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales
The property is in a super location. The views are beautiful with some lovely walking right on the doorstep. The accommodation was clean and comfortable for the six adults, one baby and two dogs in our family group. It was very well equipped. The owner and manager provided a very efficient, friendly service and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at East Calvert Cottage. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family and would love to return for another holiday to enjoy the peace and tranquility that East Calvert Cottage provided. ECC is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some of the superb walking that the Yorkshire Dales provide.

We live in Bournemouth, but my husband loves walking in Swaledale. So when our son took a place at Sheffield University, we took the opportunity to buy East Calvert House - and we love it!

Why they chose this property

We love the fact you can walk for miles in many directions from the cottage door, amid spectacular scenery. The Farmer's Arms at Muker is just a half hour walk away through the fields.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is really comfortable for us and for guests, with lovely views over Swaledale.
