Cosy comfortable barn conversion, mountain views, wildlife including red squirrel visitors
I live here with my two children, having moved to Cumbria in 2001 to live a rural life in the beautiful Lake District National Park. Brackenrigg is a wonderful spot; views from the front of the cottages of the Helvellyn range of fells - a stunning uninterrupted vista from far left to far right. Being just 3 miles from Keswick, we have all the amenities on the door step - but live in a beautiful rural landscape. Walking from the door is a great pleasure, valleys, or stiffer climbs to suit the mood, and being located in the very heart of the park - most areas of the Lake District are within an easy drive. We love the gardens, woodland; and wildlife here - badgers, red squirrels, deer, owls, song birds and birds of prey, pheasants. I am delighted to welcome you to this beautiful place
Judy purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Judy chose Keswick
The location is right in the heart of the National Park, walking from the door, but easy drive to all parts of Lake District - whether Borrowdale, Ullswater, or south to the Langdales, Ambleside. Only 3 miles to town centre of Keswick
What makes this Cottage unique
1860 barn retaining many original features. Lovely gardens and woodland, home to much wildlife. Bird & squirrel feeders close to your cottage to enhance your chances of seeing red squirrels.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Would completely recommend staying here.
Really loved staying here - fantastic location and a lovely little cottage.
Very quiet surroundings with stunning views.
We didn’t really see the owners however it was very clear how to contact them if needed and we loved how private this was.
Lovely week in the lake District
Fantastic location for exploring the North lake District area . Accommodation was great , clean and well presented and very cosy for the two of us and the hound . Walks right on your doorstep , Keswick just 5 mins away is a lovely town .
The property owner Judy was very helpful during our week.
Excellent accommodation in beautiful surroundings.
Excellent accommodation, tidy and warm
We loved this place. Its in a great location and the room was very clean. The only criticism is that you can hear the people in the upstairs cabin, which can be a bother of you are sleeping in or going to bed early. In spite of this, we would return because we loved the place and Judy was a great host.
Thank you for your lovely review, and sorry you heard other guests despite the sound-proofing. Hope to see you again soon.
Lovely location, convenient for both town and countryside
Would be 5 stars, but the soundproofing lets it down slightly, able to hear the neighbours more than would expect. Otherwise, clean, welcoming and very pleasant stay.
I’m sorry you were disturbed by other guests, Sometimes, however good the soundproofing, you’ll occasionally hear people, if they’re unusually noisy. Fortunately this doesn’t happen very often in our accommodation as most people are considerate and we have spent over £5000 soundproofing.
Hope to see you again soon
Great location, walks from the door, comfortable cottage.
Lovely views from this converted barn, with good walks from the door. In big grounds, dog friendly. Property is well appointed and comfortable with good heating if needed. If the weather had been bad we would have felt a bit cramped in the one room with small sofa and tiny TV, but the weather was great. Good welcome from Judy, many thanks.
