Cozy lakeside camp for a small family or two couples
Mark G. Dodge
About Mark G. Dodge
My family has owned the property since my great grandmother purchased it in the 1920s. My mother and my two sisters and I would would spend our summers at the lake while my Dad worked in Waltham, Massachusetts and would come up for long weekends during the summer. I have many pleasant memories of my younger years at the lake, and I am hopeful that I will obtain new long term renters who will become friends and part of the family as well. I am a college professor now and live in New Hampshire about two hours away. My nephew Kyle Tompkins and I will be your hosts and will be available to answer any concerns and will very likely be staying at our camp next door when you are visiting.
Mark G. Dodge purchased this Cottage in 1975
Why Mark G. Dodge chose Waterboro
Camp Pine Needle was built by Sam Stansfield of Wells, Maine on a piece of property my great grandmother sold him in the early 1940s. He rented it out for years and some of his renters became family friends as we would see them every year at about the same time. I bought the camp from Sam in 1975 to bring it back into the family and have owned it ever since. I haven't rented it for the past 15 years however, it has just been for my family and friends. It is time to have it earn its keep, as it were, again.
What makes this Cottage unique
The clear water of Little Ossipee has been a hallmark of this property. First time visitors always remark at the clarity of the water. Loons have made a comeback and will often be seen during the day and heard calling at night. An evening watching the sun set after a cookout and a glass of wine will bring peace of mind and pleasant conversation.

Beautiful spot on the lake
This was our second time staying here at Mark's cottage and we loved it just as much this time is the last. It's a nice little cottage steps from the lake with a nice dock to hang out on enjoy the water and sun. The dock is the perfect level to stand at and have a drink and think you're at the coolest bar on the water. Great sized yard to play cornhole or bocce or other yard games. Great space for my dog to roam around and not worry about her going out onto a Main Street. While we were there it was pretty cool but there was one day that it was really muggy and it was extremely convenient to have the air conditioners there other wise there's about 40 Windows to open up and enjoy the fresh air all the time. there's also a great little gas station store about a hundred yards from the house that has delicious food from subs to Pizza and they have a fantastic selection of beer. There is also a hannaford's about a mile away and a liquor store / redemption center that is extremely cool and has the largest selection of local beers I've ever seen. About 20 minutes away is a brewery called funky bow and it's out in the open air in the woods and they have their beer and pizza which is delicious and they allow dogs the only catch is they're not allowed to be on a leash they have to run free but there are usually a lot of dogs there they are only open on the weekends. It's a great part of Maine quiet and beautiful and I will most likely be back someday to camp pine needles. Thank you Mark
Cozy camp right on Ossipee Lake. We enjoyed the quiet, since our stay began on Labor Day evening and extended into that week. Despite being small, the camp has everything you need for a fun and relaxing time. Thanks, Mark.
Crystal Clear Lake
Great little camp for a couple or small family. The lake is crystal clear, so refreshing to swim in. My wife and I had a lovely weekend, perfect location for a party we were up for. I really loved talking to Mark, getting the history of the property. Very accommodating.
Property was just as beautiful as in the pictures. Very relaxing. Beautiful lake warm and clear
Nice camp, beautiful lake
The camp was as described. And the area was a lot of fun.
I wasn’t expecting the road across the cove to be so busy and noisy.
Didn’t pay a cleaning fee...but even so it could’ve been cleaner.
Great Camp Vacation
Very clean, comfortable camp. Water was beautiful.
Camp Pine Needle is located in Southern Maine close to ocean attractions as well as Portland, Maine's waterfront city with lots of city attractions without the big city problems.
