About Jeni Dyess
My husband and I are SW FL natives, and have lived here our whole lives. We love this area and couldn't imagine living anywhere else! Our main business in in agriculture, and our home is inland rural LaBelle. We are a mixed marriage- I'm an FSU grad and he UF. But the rivalry has worked out so far. :-)
Jeni Dyess purchased this House in 2009
Why Jeni Dyess chose St James City
We both enjoy the water and were looking for a getaway close enough to escape on the weekends, with the atmosphere that would take us away from 'the grind'. We found it in the quaint fishing community of St. James City! My husband had grown up fishing this area, and was eager to get back to his roots so to speak. I grew up vacationing on the gulf beaches, and love that some of the most native and unspoiled areas are only a short boat ride away from our house. As soon as you go over the bridge in Matlacha, you breath in the salt air and exhale all the stresses away.
What makes this House unique
When we saw this house, it was a wow factor. I love how you see water as soon as you walk in the front door. The location is fantastic, a true diamond in the rough! After much tender love & care, we are happy with the result, and hope you enjoy our vacation home as much as we do!

Pool is great.. boat lift was great, house was very spacious.
Great place for a family vacation.
Very nice home to stay
Found the home to be very relaxing and open. The outdoor grill was very accommodating, used it at least 3 times while others were either swimming or preparing meals inside in the large kitchen. The kitchen as very well stocked with more cooking items then needed. The large living room allowed for us to not be crowded, not we stayed in there. The dining room was nice. The platform in the pool was great and fairly good size but didn't take away from the rest of the pool for enjoyment. No screening around the pool area was not an issue with being your right up from San Carlos Bay and the breeze reduces the chance of being buggy. Jeni was very quick to respond to initial contact before arriving and during the stay when I had to reach out to her. Didn't use the boat lift being we didn't rent but it appeared to be more than adequate and to exit the canal it is a straight shot to the bay. It is nice to have a rental that is pet friendly being our lab loved to walk in the early AM. Places to eat/beverage are close too.
Thanks Tim. So glad you and your family enjoyed vacationing at Baybreeze and in the St James area. I appreciate the communication during your stay, it was very helpful. Wishing you well in all of your future travels!
Can’t say enough about this beautiful home. Enjoyed every minute of the two weeks we were there. From the huge well stocked kitchen- the tiki bar with outside cooking area-the heated pool-hot tub- bicycles-fishing gear-even an ice machine. It had it all. Including a canal in the back if you had a boat! Had such a nice time and it felt like home hated to leave! Thank you Jeni for a wonderful 2 weeks!
Property is spacious and well maintained
Had great vacation with family over Easter. House was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. Rented boat that was delivered to back canal. We were able to explore beaches with ease. Had wonderful time. Thank you!
August 2017 - family of 4 with dog
This property was really nice - especially the pool, outdoor kitchen and canal views. We stayed for 2 weeks during low season and actually relaxed. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked. St james city was further by car from beaches than we expected but we traveled to several nice ones. We did not have a boat but brought our 9 year old springer spaniel who loved vacationing too.
Great property. Convenience and style.
Jeni and Jason have given much thought to what is required to support a couple of weeks of coastal living in style. The spa and pool with full cooking Tiki Bar make those end of day adventures on the water relaxing and comfortable. The convenience of the ice machine was a fishing bonus. The well appointed kitchen and open dining had the perfect accommodations for my family to spend time together, yet lot's of private space in the upstairs for down time. Our two weeks flew by, but the family memories will last forever.
St. James City & surrounding areas offer something for everyone! Spend a day on the water boating or fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches accessible by boat, or lounging on a raft in the warm Gulf waters. Stop in for lunch on Cabbage Key, right past the old Fish houses. Don't forget to save some lettuce for the resident Gopher Tortoises.
Bike to nearby Galt Preserve and take a walk on the trails. Pine Island Paradise Paddling Day Tours is only a few streets over on 8th, and offers a variety of tour options for kayak or paddle board.
Is listening to music your thing? Woody's, Ragged Ass, Lo Key Tiki, and Froggys all offer live entertainment, cold libations, and some great food! Check the local Pine Island paper (delivered on Wednesdays) for the weekly lineup. Waterfront Restaurant is also a good nearby place for lunch. Ragged Ass offers up great pizza and breakfast too.
Spend a day in Matlacha browsing the various galleries and shops. Have lunch at the Blue Dog or Olde Fish House, save room for homeade ice cream at Great Licks. End your day with a drink and more good food at Micelli's, where they have live music every night on the back patio. Bert's Bar is another great spot to drop in for a drink!
