Love this studio apartment!
This apartment is in the perfect neighborhood. It’s close to Central Park, it’s close to Lincoln Center and within walking distance to Trader Joe’s. There was enough room for me to stay there with my daughter and three year old grandson. Wayne & Monica were wonderful. We’ll be back.
Family vacation with teenager
We were in NYC for a family vacation with one teenaged son. The place was large enough for all of us and allowed us to have a meal or two there each day. It was pretty warm on a couple of days (in August) and the AC kept it very comfortable in the room. The location is great. Easy access to two subway lines, restaurants, and several grocery options. We loved being able to walk to Lincoln Center and Central and Riverside parks. We interacted with Richard's assistant Wayne who was awesome. He responded quickly to our questions/requests and was delightfully helpful. Staying here helped make our visit wonderful.
Live like a New Yorker!
We stayed 7 nights here. This was a great apartment for our family of four, including two teenage sons . Wayne was extremely accommodating by allowing us to check in early. Our red eye flight brought us into JFK by 8am. We were able to check in by 10. Monica met us at the apartment. She was helpful checking us in, explaining the tv and wifi. We appreciate that she brought us an extra airbed. (Our sons don't like to share a bed! )
The neighborhood was fantastic, completely walkable. We had plenty of places to grab a bite. There were several choices for groceries. We felt safe, even walking to 78th and Amsterdam at 2AM for Insomnia Cookies! We took the subway everywhere in the city and walked to Central Park.
Our only complaint was regarding the cleanliness. The bathroom felt dirty. There were lots of spots of mold and mildew in the shower, outside the tub, and on the quilt rack that is being used as a towel rack. Several of the towels provided smelled like mildew. Unfortunately there wasn't laundry to be able to wash them. We didn't let this effect of our awesomevacation.
We would still recommend this apartment, with these things in mind.
Thanks for the kind words and 4 star review, Isabelle. It was great having you with us.
Thanks also for the comments about the bathroom. I will take a look at it asap. It could be discoloration of the silicone that happens over time rather than mold, but I will check and correct it immediately.
Please if you stay with us again (and we hope you do!), let us know about things like the towel situation during your stay. We can handle it immediately with fresh towels.. As towels come out of the dryer after washing, smelling fresh and clean, we may not be aware of the problem until a guest reports it. Towels look and smell clean to our housekeeper, but have the smell you speak of after a guest uses them. When we know which towels are affected, then we can first of all, give you fresh ones and two, toss the problem towels and buy new. But thank you for alerting us. We will try to find the culprits!
Hope to see you again soon and get a 5 star review! --- Wayne
Great apartment close to Central Park
This was our second time at Richards place so we knew we were going to be in a great neighbourhood situated only a couple of blocks from Central Park. Communication and the check in was perfect, Wayne is helpful and friendly. All in all a great place to stay.
The apartment was situated in a lovely part of uptown New York close to cute coffee shops, book shops and bakeries. It was surprisingly spacious - (its photos does not do it justice) and had a real old fashioned charm which was endearing. Pleasantly cool and quiet - it was a welcome refuge after a long day in the city. And the property had the added value of Wayne, the host with the most! - always smiling and willing to pass on valuable information on where to eat and shop. Thanks Wayne!
Thanks, Margaret! Hope to see you again soon!
We're a family of 4, we stayed in Nyc for a week. Richard's place is just perfect to move around. Centrally located yet very quiet, just one subway stop to Times Square, 10min walking to Central Park. The apartment itself is not big but quite charming, with the wooden floor and a piano available. The small kitchen is well equipped, useful to prepare breakfast and to have meals. Considering the prices for a hotel stay in Manhattan for 4 people, this is a really smart and affordable solution. Thanks to Richard and Wayne, we'll be back!
