About ELVIA ARRIOLA/DONNA BLEVINS
Elvia is a retired law professor/civil rights lawyer and Donna is a toxic torts PI lawyer who works for a Houston law firm out of our home. Which is why we are both here most of the time. We are not native Texans but Donna's been here since 1981 and Elvia got here in 1991. We love being close in to what the Austin's city center offers -- arts, music, theater, scenic beauty, hike-and-bike trails and access to the nearby hill country. We like our quiet neighborhood and look forward to sharing it with visitors who want to enjoy all that Austin has to offer, and then come home to a quiet, comfy place for relaxation and sleep.
ELVIA ARRIOLA/DONNA BLEVINS purchased this Apartment in 1994
Why ELVIA ARRIOLA/DONNA BLEVINS chose Clarksville
Elvia moved into this classic style, beautiful 1930's building in 1992 as a tenant at the beginning of her teaching career as a professor at the University of Texas. Her former landlord Elizabeth Wiggam, was 88 at the time. At 90 "Mimi"'s daughters told her it was time to retire from being a landlady and move to Tyler. She wanted a buyer who "would love and appreciate this building." Our ownership history begins in 1994 with Elvia's purchase. Today we own and manage it together.
What makes this Apartment unique
The triplex sits on a corner lot. This is an old section of Austin filled with all sorts of architectural history. We are just one block from one of the first buildings in the historic African American working class neighborhoods. Haskell house is an historic landmark and houses a community garden. We are also 2-3 blocks from Sweet Home Church which has served the old African-American population from the 1800s to this day. Some of the houses in the area frequently serve as sites for filmmaking. The area is filled with hundreds of old oaks and cedar elms and neighbors are focused on xeriscaping their yards to conserve water. We have friendly neighbors, lots of dog lovers who stroll the streets in the evening or hang out with their pets at nearby Cafe Medici, one of the best espresso cafes in town. Our own two dogs, Buffy and Dexter are little Chihuahua mixes. They stay indoors with us from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. to minimize their noise from squirrel chasing or "talking" to the neighbor dogs. If you need to zip out of town just drive up one block to Enfield Road, which is two blocks from the Loop 1 highway, and after the Lamar Blvd overpass becomes 15th street, a direct connection eastwards to I-35, N or S. This is a busy, changing area of Austin, known as Old Enfield/Clarksville and very popular with people of all ages and in all stages of their lives.

Great location and comfortable stay
Loved this property. Great location and very comfortable. Would highly recommend this place and plan to stay again when I’m next in Austin
I noticed and appreciated all the minor little details that added to my satisfaction!
Our home away from home in Clarksville
We will only stay with Elvia and Donna when we visit our family in Austin. It is super convenient, the bed is comfortable, linens are plush and high end, the kitchen has everything you would need, and the backyard is relaxing. The wifi is fast, location is perfect for us, and we feel totally at home here.
Terrific location, awesome hosts!
This was my first trip to Austin meant for exploring and getting a feel for this city (in anticipation of a *possible* job relocation). The location was ideal, close to everything I wanted to check out, beautiful house, quiet, safe, lovely neighborhood I will admit, it was a quick trip, and my time spent in the property was mainly to sleep and shower, but it is a cute and comfortable layout, with everything you would need for a weekend, or a longer stay! As others have noted, I appreciate all the little touches (bug spray, the special washcloths, chocolates, and the coffee was really good- I also love your coffee maker-it's so fast, I want to the same one!) Donna was super kind and helpful and told me lots of things about Austin (knowing about my potential move). That was so helpful, and she is so nice. I unfortunately did not get to meet Elvia, who was under the weather (hope that didn't last long!). I would definitely recommend, do not hesitate to stay here! I may consider a short-term stay (i.e temporary housing) should I end up moving to Austin. My only suggestion might be to update some of the finishes (wallpaper, etc) for a more up-to-date feel. Thank you so much for a lovely place to stay in Austin!
Clean comfy great location!
We were 2 adults staying in the Woodlawn Cottage. It is in a great location-a beautiful neighborhood within easy walking distance to the capitol and surrounding areas. There are restaurants and a market very close by as well. The place is very comfortable-the owners Donna and Elvia have thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable. Check in was a breeze. We met Donna and she is wonderful. We loved it here and so will you! We highly recommend this sweet place for anyone looking to spend some time in Austin.
