About Megan Lester 406-885-0281
We've traveled extensively and always choose to stay at vacation rentals. We've actually stayed in vacation rentals dozens of times in 6 countries. We look for the best ideas and have incorporated much of what we've found into this house. As a result, we've created a great experience that we believe to be the best value in the Flathead Valley! We wanted to make this house the place we would choose.
Megan Lester 406-885-0281 purchased this House in 2014
Why Megan Lester 406-885-0281 chose Kalispell
It is one-of-a-kind and feels like home. It's just a great place to get together with friends and family and relax. People who've stayed here have told us it felt like it was their home when they stayed.
What makes this House unique
Great classic Kalispell neighborhood a short walk from anything you could need. All the homes around it are nice, there is a classic Catholic church across the street. Within walking distance to about anything you need. Centrally located between Glacier Park, Flathead Lake, and both ski resorts. It's just a perfect home away from home.

The description of it was perfectly accurate! Everything was immaculate, very nice linens, loved the super large shower upstairs with double spray heads, property was in excellent walking distance to downtown. Hope to be back here and stay again. Thank you Megan and Scott!
Enjoyed our stay
Owners where very attentive and quickly responded to questions
Charming Historic House!!!
We absolutely loved this house and our time in Kalispell! Contrary to the negative review left prior to our stay, we found this house to be exactly what was presented in the profile. The neighborhood was wonderful and safe! The neighbors were friendly and there are several fantastic restaurants within blocks. The house had all the amenities that we needed and Matt and Megan were gracious and helpful hosts! This is a historic, century old home! It’s not a new construction “McMansion”. Therefore, if you don’t find this turn of the century style charming and exciting, this house may not be for you. We have a 1 year old just learning to walk. He loved exploring the house and all the things we needed (high chair, crib, toys, books, etc.) were already there. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in NW Montana.
The house worked out very well for our needs. We were attending my brother's memorial service so we didn't really get to experience much of the tourist attractions but we did go on a few morning walks. This home is in a great location with excellent access to several of the local breweries and shopping. Our host was promptly available to answer questions and everything was as reported on the listing. Although it was not under the best circumstances, we enjoyed being in a nice home that could accommodate the whole family.
Property Misrepresented in Write up!
Pictures and description of property NOT accurate. Bad location - high traffic area. Lack of security. No deadbolts for tenants from inside home. No Brinks security as advertised outside. Run down and shabby property. Furnishings, thrift store quality. Exterior paint peeling, uncut lawn, plantings alongside house gone to weeds, porch filthy dirty. Front porch peeling and dangerous. Ill fitting front door and badly weathered, not to mention mostly glass with no privacy curtain allowing anyone to see into Home day or night. Kitchen upon our arrival was far from clean. Food left in refrigerator in moldy or rotting condition. Cabinets contained open flour, corn starch, sugar, cereal and spilled contents on shelving. Filthy counter tops, toaster filled with old crumbs, oven oozing w grease and old food. Dirty kitchen floor. Reported to owner within 40 min of arrival and was told no one could come for at least 4-5 days. Interior painting disgraceful to the bones of this quaint old house. Glossy paint patching over matte paint. Towels and linens not new or luxury quality as described in VRBO write up. They were holey and shredded.. Sofa in poor condition, springs have given way to difficult seating. No information was left to operate tv w 3 remotes. Dining table rickety, stained and scratched as were the chairs. Drawers and doors painted closed. High concern regarding electrical safety in house. Extension cords running everywhere inside/outside. Backyard area un inviting. No lighting that we could find. We were instructed by owners that we must come inside the house by 9pm for fear of waking an elderly person or baby. Dog next door barks loudly all day and night. House unacceptable for any kind of gathering of more than 4. Porch had 2 dilapidated plastic chairs. Not open to sitting outside comfortably. Basically all furnishings inside NOT new as stated in VRBO description. The area was very unsafe due to observable high drug activity. Owners told us area was safe and no need for any locks on doors, they didn’t. Someone was in the house when we were away from it and left the basement light on. We left this property 3+ weeks earlier than our contract due to sheer, utter depression and fear. We also canceled guests arrivals due to inability to house them comfortably. No items would have been fixable during our stay. Caution! Owner not returning any of unused rental funds. House is released for large portion of vacancy. Double-dipping and shameful.
We strive for our guests to be satisfied, and if problems arise, we are quick to address them. In this case this guest was initially upset because there were condiments and dry goods (spices, suger, coffee, tea, flour) that we ask guests to leave for future guests. When they complained, we offered to send our cleaner first thing the next morning…but they refused to admit her, and instead took it upon themselves to throw everything away. We’ve since replaced all the coffee, tea, sugar, spices, teas and condiments that they threw away. They brought up a few other issues like a burnt-out lightbulb and dust on the porch that we immediately addressed.
What this guest left out is, shortly after they checked in, we met them at the house with a welcome basket with coffee, raspberries we picked from our farm, and $150 in gift certificates to our favorite restaurants...and made sure they were comfortable and content for their extended stay. At the time they said all was well... and reiterated their satisfaction with our cleaner a week after that. Then, three weeks into their stay, they unexpectedly left, posted this review and demanded a refund.
What happened was they grew board and wanted to go somewhere different. They then tried to blame the house and use a horrible review to leverage a refund...which we refused to accommodate. Much of what is in this review Is either completely blown out of proportion or untrue. We bent over backwards to try to make these two happy, but we realize now there was nothing we could have done.
A couple things we’d like to address: The pictures are recent; the description is accurate. Also, never have my husband and I, any of our other guests, our neighbors, or our housekeeper ever observed or reported drug use around the house...or any crime for that matter. The house is across the street from a Catholic church and down the road from the sheriff’s and city police departments. The house has deadbolts and we’ve never had a single issue with crime. The house is safe, and gets inspected by the fire marshal annually as part of the city vacation rental permit process.
It is true that everything in the house is not brand new. It’s a 110-year-old historical home. That being said, the house was recently remodeled, and if something is worn out or needs fixed or replaced, we take care of it as soon as we can between vacancies. It is impossible to find holy sheets or towels…we replace them every year and we take anything that gets ruined out of use.
We walked through the house after getting this feedback to see if there was anything constructive to take away and we will be doing some touch up painting this fall.
Very much enjoyed this house right in the heart of historic Kalispell. Whole process was easy and just what our family needed.
