We had a great time at Christina's place. The home was clean and spacious and we loved the fire pit!
Amazing! We had a group of 8 adults, 4 teenagers, and a dog - all of us enjoyed ourselves immensely without a single complaint. Plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of common space for the group to hang out together. The yard, basketball hoop, firepit, and patio all got tons of use over the week. We had family dinners together nearly every night. And the owner was extremely accommodating. Communication throughout the week was prompt and pleasant. I highly recommend this property!
Thanks for choosing to stay at our Farmhouse for your family vacation! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Great family vacation
My wife and I have 4 married children and 4 grandchildren ages 1 to 3-1/2 years old. We pick this place mainly because we can all be together. What we found was a wonderful old farmhouse with plenty of room that was spotless and homey. We were all able to eat together. The grandchildren enjoyed the property with all the barns and the trains traveling in the distance that was visible from the side porch. We found a secluded park with a playground and a splash pad a few miles away. The home is close to Welland and Port Colburn. My wife and I wanted to have one nice dinner by our self and Christina recommended Taris in Welland. We ate on the patio overlooking the canal and the food was great. The Girls went wine tasting one day that was 20 minutes away in Vineland. Niagara-on -the lake was 25 minutes away. There was plenty on golf courses close by for us to choose from. We all enjoyed the week together and made long lasting great memories.
Thanks you Christina.
We had a large group, and this house was perfect for us. Enough room for everyone to have their own space, but also big and open enough for us to all get together for meals. Owner was extremely responsive and very easy to work with. 25 mins to the falls. Perfect. Thank you!
Thanks for the great review! It was a pleasure to host you at our Farmhouse! Hope you will be back to stay again sometime.
Family Reunion at the Farmhouse
Thirty eight family members met for a family reunion in Niagara Falls. The Farmhouse was our headquarters. There was room for 12 to sleep in the house and there was lots of room for folks to drop in. Christina checked in to make sure we had what we needed. Putting the reunion together was challenging, but she was willing to answer our questions and graciously welcomed us to her family home. It was close enough to Niagara Falls for us to see the sights, but everyone was just as happy to enjoy being together at the Farmhouse. We would definitely encourage others to stay in this beautiful home in a beautiful location with a gracious host. Thank you Christina and John.
It was a pleasure to host your group! I was so happy that your family could make some great memories while at our Farmhouse for the reunion!
the good and bad of our family reunion
We were a group of 3 families---with 4 children between the ages 2 and 8 years old--who spent 6 nights at "the farm" (as my grandchildren called it).
If you are like me, you read reviews looking for the good but also the bad. I will start with the bad--which is really a good--we pre paid a lot of money for attraction tickets---we could have totally skipped any sightseeing and saved the money because my grandchildren did not want to leave the farm. Ever. Every single time we loaded up the cars, it was a battle-- they balked and resisted because they did not want to leave---and then the entire time we were gone, they kept asking when we would go back. They could have cared less about Niagra Falls---they had snails, frogs and tadpoles on their little radars the whole week.
There is TONS for kids to do. There was a basketball net, soccer net, and a fenced in field where they were able to play football (bring your football/whiffle ball and bat to play in the field). They hunted for frogs, tadpoles and snails--and did lots of exploring looking for treasures. They built fairy houses using sticks, stones, etc. There is a small alcove upstairs that has a single mattress and a dress up box---they turned that into their secret club (no adults allowed).
Several times during the week we had campfires and cooked s'mores--there is a designated campfire area complete with logs to sit on. We spent hours sitting around the campfire.
As a suggestion---bring a good camera. There are many areas that are pinterest-worthy locations for family photos---we took many pictures using the weathered barn, pasture fence, metal pasture gate, pond, etc as a background--the pictures turned out amazing. I wish there was an option to attach pictures so you could see the great photo opportunities.
The house is extremely clean. The owner is very friendly and readily available and responsive to text messages. The house is totally equipped with everything you need---just show up with your clothes--you can bring minimal clothes since a washer and dryer are available.
Some suggestions for future guests---as noted earlier, bring a good camera. Also bring some bug spray--we had a heavy rain, and the mosquitoes were out in abundance that night. If you have little ones, consider bringing a few child plastic plates or paper plates---the kitchen is equipped with nice stoneware/ceramic dinnerware, and it made me nervous with the younger children during meals.
