The cottage was well equipped for 2 people.I doubt that the bedding is anti allergic, maybe it was once. The picture on Tv in the lounge was poor and the bedroom one could not receive all stations. The decor is very dated, with a few dog hairs and dead flies. There is NO WIFI despite the website and joining email indicating there is. We were told this was taken out as the property was being sold. Despite all this we enjoyed our stay and it was good value for the money.

Cute little Durham retreat
We love visiting the cottage. It has everything we need for a comfortable stay and is in an idyllic part of Durham. The views are breathtaking. The fire makes the whole cottage feel so cozy and homely. When you visit, try to remember it is over 100 years old so dont expect a "new build" - it has all the wrinkles of age, which make it endearing. We will be visiting again as soon as we can

My husband and I are retired and love the rural life. There are lots of lovely walks here in the village.

Why they chose this property

There are under 400 homes in the village and 2 village inns. If you like green fields & hills and walks by the river you'll love it here. The village is steeped in history with its12th century tower, Norman church and 15th century Witton castle .

What makes this property unique

Perfectly located to explore this magnificent area of outstanding natural beauty. In contrast Newcastle is 50 mins. away York 90 mins for a great days shopping.
