Weekend in Deal
Lovely cottage lots of atmosphere
Great location, only a short walk to Deal Castle, the beach, pier and shops. Lavender Cottage was very homely and comfortable and just perfect for the family (including the dog!).
We had a wonderful stay at this great cottage in Deal. The location was perfect since it was a very short walk to many restaurants, castle and grocery store. The garden was lovely and the dog definitely enjoyed the fenced in area. The rooms were very spacious and cottage well appointed. This was also a very short drive to Dover and the White Cliffs. Overall a very enjoyable break.
Comfortable and Conveniently Located
Great Place! Nicely furnished, comfortable and close to downtown Deal
Comfortable, well-situated house
Really enjoyed a three-night stay at this property, which was more spacious than the outside let on. The two bedrooms are both large, each with enough space for sitting areas. The living area is a bit smaller compared to the bedrooms, but still plenty of space for our party of three. The kitchen had everything one would need for cooking.
The location made it easy to venture around the town; it's a 5-minute walk to the center and the beginning of High Street, and just as quick to the beach. Deal itself is a great little town; some fun shopping and really excellent dining options, from quirky cafes to some very nice seafood. Was also nice to find a large handful of pubs with a wide range of real ales and craft beer.
The historic town of Deal is an undiscovered gem which has its own Tudor castle, an attractive pier and a conservation area with delightful, quaint buildings round every corner. It has a rich maritime history, including sea battles, smuggling and an association with Lord Nelson.
In addition, Deal offers quirky gift shops, a Saturday market, and excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs. Allow yourself time to cycle or walk in either direction along the front, taking in sea views, other historic buildings such as Walmer Castle and the stunning, famous chalk cliffs of Dover.
As part of your stay travel further afield: Sandwich, Canterbury and Margate all have much to offer. A favourite attraction of ours is the Turner Art Gallery at Margate. Alternatively, explore the Kent countryside-The Garden of England.
