Perfect Base for Exploring the Heart of The Yorkshire Dales
About Angela Dickson
Our family have had Wharfe Lodge in our family for 2 generations. We have thoroughly enjoyed spending countess school holidays immersing ourselves in the glorious Dales countryside and close flora and fauna right from the front verandah. We extend the invitation to stay to you and your love for the Dales too.
Angela Dickson purchased this Chalet in 1984
Why Angela Dickson chose Threshfield
Uniquely as well as the quiet rural setting and privacy that is afforded overlooking Cracoe Fell at the same time we have both a traditional Dales inn, plush Leisure club, spa beauty treatment centre and hairdresser on-site all a short walk from the property. With the pretty village of Grassington just down the road it is ideally situated and is only 20 minute drive to Skipton, the larger market town. Quiet & Cosy but also great convenience - have the best of both worlds !

Great holiday property in great location
Ideal holiday self catering property, excellent facilities, great quiet location for walking. On site leisure facilities are good but overpriced for daily use. Good pub on site for all day meals as required, not cheap !! Excellent local Spar with local food outlets extensive range of fresh food. Overall highly recommended.
Clean,comfortable,quiet and well equipped.
As you may gather, Wharfe Lodge is in a row of lodges -on a residential and holiday park well above the Wharfedale road. The lodges are sensibly positioned so that even when using the balcony you are quite secluded.
There is some view of the fells from the balcony through the trees. In addition to the comments in the title, the lodge is very well located for easy drives to all parts of Wharfedale. The lovely little Littondale is just around the corner. The Gamekeeper, a one minute walk on site, serves good food at fair prices.
Peter, I am so pleased to hear you had a lovely stay and you enjoyed the seclusion and convenience the lodge afforded to you. Cracoe fell visible through the trees from the Verandah is impressive and in Winter you can get a much clearer view once the leaves have fallen from the nearby trees. The Gamekeeper's Inn and the on-site spa is very close yes, just a mere stroll away so I am pleased you got to sample some of their fine food
A Spacious & Well Equipped Chalet
An attractive and very well equipped chalet on a spacious site, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Very handy to have a genuine pub and restaurant, 'The Gamekeeper', located in the centre of the site and a well-stocked supermarket at the service station two minutes down the road. We also did a lot of exploring by car and on foot around Wharfedale and for this the chalet was ideally located. A very pleasant stay all round.
Loved it, great log cabin
Had a fantastic week, lovely location and great cabin. It's very quiet, perfect for our getaway. Some lovely walks from site around the disused quarry, made more spectacular with the snow. Also didnt have to drive far for more walks
Well equipped cosy cabin. We also used the leisure centre swimming pool. A little expensive but my 5 year old enjoyed it. Would definitely visit again.
Thank you so much for that lovely review of the lodge. I am glad it was everything that you were looking for and that you all had a great time. With regards the Leisure club/Spa this is run as a separate entity by Long Ashes Park Management and they set their own prices which we personally have no control over. It is however a luxurious experience and is a good option if you have children and you have a day when the weather isnt so good and most other properties listed wouldnt have access to such a facilitiy, certainly not easy walking distance from the property as this is. I understand they do offer weekly passes which work out more cost effective so may be worth considering. Aside from the Spa upstairs and the indoor pool/jacuzzi/steam room/sauna and gym, they also do tea/coffee and light meals and snacks in a casual stylish open plan area with the daily newspapers provided in the lobby. We look forward to welcoming you back again to Wharfe Lodge in the future. Thanks again.
Although the lodge was very cozy, I was a bit disappointed that there was no Christmas Trimmings up for New Year. It was clean and everything you need for self catering pots pans etc. The outside light onto the terrace didn't work and there was no plug to have a bath after a long winter walk. The park itself is beautiful with an excellent on site pub/ restaurant which serves excellent food.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you found the log a cosy and clean experience. We will certainly take on board your thoughts regarding keeping festive decorations up into the New Year. Apologies for the bath plug not been readily available. Evidently it had been put on top of the vanity cupboard when we inspected the property but not obvious I agree after a long tiring walk.
Our log cabin on Long Ashes Park is situated right in the heart of Wharfedale in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is a quiet peaceful setting with a wonderful opportunity to feel at one with nature and a plethora of local wildlife; pheasants, rabbits, numerous friendly garden birds and the occasional deer roam around and are spotted from the comfort of your holiday home. We have a sheltered verandah we here you can sit out in privacy and a newly gravelled side space where you are welcome to take the outdoor chairs or the sunloungers to sit out and relax on warm sunny days
On the site itself is a licensed traditional inn serving hot meals and local beers and for a lighter snack or a coffee or pot of tea the Leisure Club opposite provides daily papers in the foyer cafe where guests can sit and pass an hour.
The site also boasts a beautiful indoor pool complex with sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and a separate gym. Please note this operates separate from our listing as so is not included in the price. However, should you wish to enquire further about these services contact Long Ashes Park directly on : 01756 752261 or visit
The local food shops are now relocated in a purpose built complex in keeping with the Dales stone, 2 minutes drive from Long Ashes Park with a mix of Spar supermarket and local producers (though can be reached on foot along the footpath that runs behind the park and the Caravan club). The heart of Grassington village with its pretty cobbled square, street lines cafe's, quaint gift shops and the Tourist Information is a 5 minute drive away.
