Family reunion post covid
Overall the villa suited our needs with regards to location & accommodation. The agent was not there to meet us at the villa as had been previously arranged. When finally let in the cleaning staff were still working although this was now past 4pm. we had arrived at 1pm 10 adults & 3 babies. The agent was extremely unhelpful in showing us around.
the next day a compressor broke down which resulted in 2 out of the 6 bedrooms having no air condition when it was around 35 degrees plus every day. At the end of our 14 day stay, the compressor had still not been repaired. There were numerous times where people were sent to try to resolve the problem often at awkward times, (dinner time or when babies were sleeping) but to no avail. The owner was told there was only one solution, a new compressor but he wouldn't agree to that. We had to purchase fans at our own expense. On check out, we were accused of not properly recycling the garbage even though we had photos to show we had done exactly as required. We then asked for a refund for the 2 bedrooms that were advertised as having air conditioned but did not. that was based on the rental price. This was refused & a very minimum sum was offered but even that was reduced by the very huge sum of electricity & water charged. Beware of renting a villa that does not include these as you can be charged anything at the end of your stay & there is nothing you can do to dispute it. there is no way of proving what your party has actually used.
In the end, what should have been a family reunion after being separated for 3 years ended with a bad taste. there was a lot of wasted time spent on phone calls to the agency, time with repair people & letters written. The Agency could & should have done better especially for a big group with babies & a 14 day stay. Very very expensive stay that certainly did not warrant the rate we paid as well as the lack of attention & service.
