About Alley Juckem
Norally's Vision I was born in Panama near the Panama Canal. My father was a career soldier, the son of an Iowa Farmer. My mother was a citizen of Panama. I lived and went to school in Panama till I was 8 years old. I remember the country as a very pretty, tropical country. I also remember that as an Army brat, I never felt at home there or in many other places that the military would take us. Being a child I really could not understand, why. That is until my father was transferred back state side. I will never forget arriving at my Grandparents Iowa farm home. It was late at night and there were fireflies glowing all about. My Grandmother (Hattie) came running out to greet us. The love she had for my father was written all over her face. When she hugged me it felt like I had always known her, and that hug. I can still remember how she smelled. My grandparent’s home was large, inviting and had plenty of room for us all. The next day all my fathers brothers and sister their spouses and children came for a big family gathering. I had Uncles, Aunts and cousins that loved us. They were our family. We belonged to each other. We were home. My grandparents lovely farm home is now gone, as are they. I could not save that wonderful farm, but the love, laughter, fun and memories my cousins and I shared is ours forever. I didn't know at that magical moment, how my life would move. I did not know that in my darkest hours, those magical moments I had shared with my family, at my grandparents home would keep me warm, bring me hope, make me smile and give me strength. I came to realize that it was not the house and farm that we enjoyed so much as each other. Having room to all be together under one roof. It is our vision to give families that visit Norally House that wonderful blessed feeling that they are always welcome, always at home. Alley Juckem
Alley Juckem purchased this House in 1987
Why Alley Juckem chose Weaverville
My Husband and I designed and built this beloved property in 1987 for our growing family. We wanted a 6 bedroom home close and easy access to Asheville on some small acres with surround mountain views from sun up to sun set. We felt that if we were going to live in the mountains we wanted to see them from every window. We did not think we would find the perfect spot until one day we got lost actually heading to another piece of land for sale. We pulled over unto a road off the main road to check out a map because we did not have GPS back then. It was a beautiful summer day and while my husband was checking out the map I was looking around at the beautiful sight before me. I remember leaning against our car and saying “why can’t we find a perfect spot like this.” My husband looked up and said “wow!! Guess you got to have a bit of luck or angel to find perfect spots like this.” We both started to walk around the beautiful location pointing out how perfect it was. As we walked back to the car a man walking his dog came over to us and told us he lived just down the road. We introduced ourselves and told him we were lost he started to help us by giving us directions to where we were headed. We mentioned that we hoped the property we were about to see was as beautiful as the one we were standing in front of. He then said “well you know this property is for sale the sign must have fallen down.” We could not believe it!! He had the name and number of the owner. We got in our car decided the heck with even looking at another property. We had found what we wanted. We headed straight back to our rental called the owners of the two perfect acres and closed the perfect deal that night. The rest is History. I do not believe in luck but I do believe in Angels.
What makes this House unique
The surround mountain views made us fall in love with this property. The private two acres just 10 minutes from the heart of Asheville is an added plus. The French Broad river is one and half mile bike ride or jog. The small town of Weaverville just a stroll away. The fine dining in Asheville and Weaverville is outstanding. The many festivals and events held all year around is always exciting and fun. A grand adventure seems to be waiting around the bend all year round. Visitors can enjoy viewing wild turkeys, and other wild life along with surround mountain views. Just like the song goes "nothing could be finer"!

Great place for the whole family to gather for Thanksgiving! Plenty of room for everyone!
Also close to all Asheville has to offer
The dining room was great for a large family to celebrate a wedding
We enjoyed the large space
Not the best
The property is great. The reason I gave it a poor rating is that the people who are in charge of renting are not the best. So first of all I had told them that we were celebrating my husband's birthday and ONLY family members would be staying there. There were not enough comforters for people and it was a little chilly especially in the basement bedroom. Since I had family members who had come from far and were driving 4-6 hrs back home, I wanted to give them brunch so I asked for late checkout to 11am. I got a nasty email saying that only one event is allowed and under no circumstances other people are allowed at the property. I explained it was just the family that was staying there. The answer again was no that we had to vacate by 10AM sharp. Luckily we were also renting another house whose owner was so nice and said we could check out as late as 12:30! So we moved to the other house, had brunch and left. I have NEVER rented a place that would not give you a later check out. Even hotels give you that!
The house was beautiful and perfect for a large group but because of all the above problems, it dampened our experience.
Lopa I am sorry and surprised at your disappointment that you were not able to have a brunch at the property on Sunday. I though you understood after we talked. You said that you did. I never nor did anyone whom works for me sent you any nasty or harsh emails. This is simply not true. All emails are recorded by homeaway and me..along with the text messages. As you mentioned above you were wanted to host a bunch for the guest in the Norally House along with other people from another property. However you did not include that when making your reservation. We have two different reservations accommodations and events. Each has a different check in agreement along with charges. Yes, hotels do also. You can't stay in a hotel and then invite people over for a brunch after checkout in their events room.
As you also mentioned you then took everyone over to the other house with another group of guest and had your brunch there.
You texted us and asked for a 12 or 12:30 check out which goes into another day. In addition housekeeping was already set up for a regular accommodations cleaning and set up not an event. Events such as Brunch and additional guest do have additional charges for obvious reasons. This is stated clearly on our site and on your check in agreement which you see before you make a reservation. Regardless we did have another group coming in that afternoon. We always give late check out at no additional charge when ever possible. Many of our past guest will attest to that. I texted you and called you repeatedly to discuss this and to receive a guest list but your mail box was always full and as you see on this site we also did not get a response. We could have changed your check in agreement to an event agreement if we would have been notified earlier before another reservation had come in. October is a busy season and it fills up fast. We have a lot of repeat guest because as you mentioned the house is beautiful and large. There are not to many like it near the Asheville area. As for the extra blankets or comforters the house was set up for 20 guest in beds.. I supervised it myself as it was a large group. There were even extra blankets in the dressers. The living room also had throw blankets as we do that when ever the temperatures get cool. The only problems you mentioned are that you could not fine the extra blankets which were in the dressers. As everyone including you know...you could have called us at any time 24/7 you had my cell which is answer 24/7. I even talked to you upon check in. We could have someone there to locate the extra blankets or anything else with in minutes. Clearly you are disappointed about the Brunch and I am sorry however as mentioned we would have been glad to let you have it if only we would have know ahead of time so arrangements and changes could have been made before another booking came in.
It was a nice place to have a family reunion.
Thank you for staying with us and glad you had a nice family reunion. I am sorry we could not accommodated your family member an extra night stay for two. October is peek season and reservations run pretty tight. Please know that you are always welcome back.
