About Michael Showalter
My wife and I have lived on Capitol Hill for 15 years. We love it here. It's a small town in the middle of a big city. Restauranteurs discovered H Street about 10 years ago and the area is booming. I'm a tour guide and my wife works in government so it's been the perfect place for us to enjoy our fine city without the burden of a lengthy commute from the suburbs.

Why Michael Showalter chose Eastern Market
This house is only blocks from numerous coffee shops, restaurants and grocery stores. We keep high standards for our house and we try to make sure our guests understand that. We're thrilled that we can share our house and neighborhood with people from all over the world. It's wonderfully tight-knit neighborhood of Capitol Hill is full of families and schools and playgrounds. Our guests will enjoy being within walking distance to so many amenities.
What makes this Townhouse unique
This house is close enough to enjoy the tourist sites yet also close to the neighborhood aspects that can make a longer stay more amenable. Enjoy the many restaurants of our neighborhood, or walk to Whole Foods to get the items you need to cook your meals in our fully furnished kitchen. Our house is conveniently located one mile NE of the US Capitol Building. Tourists should know, the city's Metro Rail was designed to bring suburbanites into the city. It was not designed to move people to tourist sites within the city. This is born out by the fact that there is only one Metro stop on the entire 5 miles of the National Mall. Often tourists thinking they're doing themselves a favor by being near a Metro stop. That is true in NYC, NOT in Washington. City people walk, bike or take the bus. Our house is located within one mile walk of the Capitol and only one block from the bus line that goes directly to the White House and three blocks from the line that transfers to the Museums, and one block from a CaBi Bike share station. Our neighborhood is one of the few that gives you close proximity to the National Mall, yet still has you in a functioning, vibrant, walkable neighborhood.

Michael is a great host, the house is great. Convenient to Union Station using the DC Street Car.
Neighborhood is being redeveloped so there is lots of construction and a few rougher elements. However we never felt unsafe. Met several neighbors and went into several local restaurants and businesses. Lots of friendly people.
This charming home is in a very quiet neighborhood which is a short walk to Union Station and "The Hill". So many great restaurants in the area too.
Great Location, Comfortable House
We (4 adults) stayed a week at Michael's house on G Street. We found it nearly perfect for our needs. Location was a major plus. Just a block or two walk took us to the DC Link, an electric street car that would get us to Union Station in minutes - for free. We had great access to two supermarkets and several spots to eat, grab coffee, etc. The house featured a great kitchen, plenty of dining and living room space and all the hot water a teenager could consume in the shower. House directions were clear and complete. Michael was very attentive over the course of the week, checking in with us now and then to make sure that we lacked nothing - and responded very quickly when we asked a question. The only shortcoming (hence "nearly perfect") was the lack of any closet space in one of the bedrooms. When we mentioned this to Michael, he assured us that it'd be addressed. So - if you need a comfortable, convenient spot in D.C. , go for this place!
It was a bit of hike to the Metro, but the plus side was the option to park and leave our cars. The owners were very nice, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. What more could you ask for!
Very clean, great location
Location was great. Mike was very helper and attentive. He texted us as soon as we arrived to make sure everything was ok for us. The house was incredibly clean. You can tell Mike and his family take really good care of the house. The location is so good that i would advice against renting a car. There is a free streetcar three blocks away on H ST and 8 th ST that stops at Whole Foods, Giant grocery store, and the Union Station. Using Uber or Lyft service was very easy and not that expensive to get around DC. We even used Lyft service to go to Mt. Vernon and Old Town Alexandria. Some days, we walked to grocery stores or to the Union Station to take the Metro. This property has all the necessities you will need. Mike is very good about responding quickly via text or email with any questions. I highly recommend this place!
Loved 1025 G Street, NE
Perfect location. Enough room for my big family. Clean as a whistle and close to amenities.
