Le Petit Toit Gîte at La Charpenterie

The facilities on the whole were excellent though we did miss not having a garlic press and use of a washing machine

Had a lovely time in this tranquil spot. Well looked after with fresh eggs and veg. Some great cycling on very quiet roads. An excellent location to get away from the rat race. Comfortable accomodation and helpful hosts.

We booked this Gite to stay whilst we were house hunting in Deux severes.

Very reasonabley priced. Great communication and directions from Helen.

The pictures do not do the Gite justice. The Gite was much larger than we had invisaged with bright open rooms all decorated to a very high standard with a classic french feel.

The outside space was a welcoming surprise for us and our dog with beautiful views, table and chairs as well as sun loungers and a BBQ.

The owners had provided wine and essentials and had set a fire in the wood burner for our arrival.

Helen and Steve were very welcoming helping us with local amenities and even suppling maps and details of the local vet.

We can thourghly recommend Le Petit Toit Gite.

We were warmly welcomed on our arrival by the owners, Helen and Steve. This set the scene for the remainder of our stay. They were keen to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. On entry into the cottage we were were very pleased to receive some essential groceries, including milk, eggs, bread, cheese and French wine. The cottage had everything we required, three lovely rooms. A newly fitted bathroom including a really large shower, a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a large living/dining/kitchen area. Heating was via a very efficient wood burner for which Steve was constantly providing us with wood and kindling. The owners live in a separate building on the same site and were always available in case we had any problems or needs. The location was ideal for us, away from any towns or villages thus creating a quiet, tranquil and rural atmosphere yet within ten or fifteen minutes of shopping and touristic areas. This area is ideal for cycling and walking as it is not too hilly and provides beautiful countryside for exploration. We have already booked to return with our friends to their larger cottage (on the same site) this summer.

Le logement est très agréable, en pleine nature, à la fois proche et distancé de celui des propriétaires (absolument discrets) avec un jardin privatif dont nous avons largement profité. Leurs petits cadeaux d'arrivée marquent une attention bienveillante aux vacanciers que nous étions. Leur logement est bien situé dans le département des deux-sèvres, la gâtine offrant visites et randonnées variées. Nous recommandons !
