Rose Lodge - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
We really enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage, it was in a perfect location quiet and peaceful, yet close to a town for all the shops. We were made to feel really welcome. Will be back!
Lovely break away
We had a lovely break at Rose Lodge with our toddler. The small kitchen was well equipped and there was a cot for our daughter. We were able to access lots of things to do locally within about 30 minutes (and there's lots to do!). Our daughter also loved running around your lovely, huge garden and spotting the ducks.
One week was definitely not enough
We so enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and very well appointed holiday home we determined (even before we finished our holiday) that that we would return. The property owners (whose own home is next door) struck the perfect balance between being available for help and advice, without being in any way intrusive. In a pleasant rural village, the property is well placed for access to all the nearby beaches, countryside and seaside resorts.
Comfortable and peaceful
We really enjoyed our 2 week stay and our dog thought it was marvelous too. The beds were super comfortable (a real plus, as in lots of cottages they aren't) and the location was lovely, within easy reach of Hayle, Porthleven or Helston. The owners were kind enough to let us run the dog on their big lawn which he absolutely adored. The open plan kitchen is well provided although we had to move some of the crockery to create cupboard space for groceries etc as we needed to do our own cooking rather than eat out - others may find differently. The downstairs bathroom is spacious and has a walk in shower, no bath, but we found this perfectly suited to our needs. The cottage is adjoining to the owners' property although they were away during our stay. I can't say what difference it might have made as the lodge is fenced off quite separately from the house, which did increase our sense of privacy and freedom to enjoy the property without feeling overlooked. All in all it was a great cottage and I would certainly recommend it to others.
A perfect week
We were greeted straight away with smiles and pleasantries and immediately felt comfortable around our hosts. They respected our privacy completely but were on hand if anything was to happen.
The lodge itself is perfect and excellently decorated, you really do feel like you are living the life of Riley! The views from the rear windows were impeccable and the location is ideal for families/ couples that want to explore the sights of Cornwall.
We are desperate to visit again as we had such a relaxed an enjoyable week. Unfortunately we couldn't write in the guest book as we couldn't find a pen of all things! However we can only speak good things about this perfect getaway, suiting families, couples and anyone who wants to enjoy their holiday.
Thankyou for such a brilliant trip, we are very grateful you allowed us to stay here.
Ella & Sam, Leicester
We stayed for a week at Rose Lodge. We had a wonderful week such beautiful accommodation everything inside was to the highest standard possible. The owners were very friendly and left us some welcome gifts which was very much appreciated after a long journey. They were very helpful advising of places to visit in the surrounding area. Was lovely being able to take our little jack Russell with us also. About 5 minutes drive away is a national trust property which was lovely for morning walks. Would highly recommend this property and hopefully we will return as it was the nicest we have stayed in in Cornwall.
Praa Sands in the South West of Cornwall is located between Helston and Penzance. The town contains many facilities including a shop, pub, post office and Praa Sands Gold Club. The nearest large supermarket is Morrisons towards Penzance. The extensive beach stretching from Rinsey Head to Hoe Point is extremely popular with the whole family, Prussia Cove, Perranuthnoe & Marazion are the nearest beaches, all within a few minutes drive. When the North Coast is 'blown out' you will find the surfers flock to Praa Sands for its powerful waves coming straight in from the Atlantic Ocean. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle which dates back to the Bronze Age. Nearby Helston is famous for its Floral Dance in May, a day when the whole town stops and dresses up for the days many dances through the streets. From Penzance you can take the Scillonian for a day trip to the picturesque Isles of Scilly, well worth a visit if you have never been. 10 minutes down the road lies Marazion famous for St Michaels Mount, home to a medieval castle and a working local community. St Michaels Mount is accessible by causeway at low tides, or by boat. The castle is leased from the National Trust by the St Aubyn family who reside at the property maintaining and working the grounds.
Rose Lodge is only 3 miles from the beautiful beach and surf at Praa Sands and about the same distance from Rinsey's rocky cove (NT). Prussia Cove film set for 'Ladies in Lavender' and Godolphin House (NT) of 'Poldark' fame, are nearby. Four miles away is the market town of Helston, full of Cornish history and tradition, with its Furry dance in early May. For children of all ages there is Flambards Theme Park next to Culdrose Air Base famous for many air sea rescue missions. There are sights to be seen around Goonhilly Earth station where the large dish Arthur is now a listed building. Try your hand at riding a 2 wheeled Segway. These together with the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek and the nearby coastal village of Porthleven provide any holidaymaker with a wealth of interesting visits. Only 7.5 miles away is the lively town of Penzance where the Scillonian offers trips to the Isles of Scilly. St Ives is only 14 miles away on the north coast with its beautiful bays and artistic areas.
Rose Lodge is central for the areas and villages of the Lizard, Helford, Land's End and Mousehole. Facilities for golf, sailing, course and sea fishing are all available within a few miles. You can take country and coastal walks or visit local country pubs for well-priced meals or shop in the local super stores at Helston and Penzance. There are a wealth of gardens to explore. The mines at Lelant, Geevor, Bottalack and Poldark are a short drive away. The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno beach are well worth a visit. There are world famous art galleries at St Ives and Newlyn.
