The holiday was all we could have hoped for. George was a very generous and attentive host, and we loved staying in this lovely cottage right on the beach, surrounded by trees and shrubs. There is so much space that you have complete privacy and are not overlooked by anyone. We loved the island. If you want an authentic Greek experience untouched by mass tourism you cannot do better.
A little Piece of Heaven.
We loved our 14 night stay in July/August.
We spent most of our time relaxing, reading, swimming and kayaking on the tranquil beach belonging to the property.
Easy to find and all that you need is on your doorstep - if you can tear yourself away.
George was a Gracious Greek Gentleman.
thank you for you kind words concerning me and my..........property.I hope to see you again next summer.
All my best regards,
Beautiful clean and comfortable home in a peaceful and idilic Greek retreat.
We enjoyed a thoroughly restful week interrupted only by the sound of the sea and birdsong accompanied by the rustle of the breeze through the pine trees.
All this and yet 15 mins from the centre of Lesvos.
George is the most perfect host and we will definately return next year.
thank you again for your kind and also poetic words. For me it was a surprising pleasure to meet you, your wife and your friends. This because, you evaluated from the first moment, that the the place and home you visited, fited absolutely with your needs and mood.I did and Ill do in the future my best to live again the experience you described.
All the best,
Perfect holiday location
The perfect beach-front property - beautiful, secluded and with stunning views - that you would have to travel back in time for to find in France, Mallorca or most other Mediterranean locations. George the landlord could not be more accommodating and generous, as well as friendly and interesting.
We all five (parents with three teenagers) had a fantastic week, being incredibly lazy - apart from having fun kayaking and heading out daily to take up George's restaurant recommendations.
The property is very clean, well equipped and maintainted. And if anything the amazing photos don't do it justice...!!
great quiet place
Great secluded place; we all enjoyed it (with kids 7 yrs and baby of 6 months); nice bay for swimming (mostly no wawes, warm water and no people); definitely will recommend it to a friend. Only the food arround was not as good as expected for Greece. the owner provided cleaning every third day and home made olive oil and honey :-)
thank you for your kind words, concerning our property. We hope to have the pleasure to see you in the future.Give my best regard to your wife,to your daugter and of course your baby!
PERFECT FOR US.
The villa is in the most tranquil of settings, the best equipped ever experienced, the host George, the most generous. A perfect week. Thank you George. bravo to you. Susan Bowater
We were very pleased to learn that you had such a pleasent time during your holidays in our villa. We can reasure you that comments like yours encourage us to become better and impove futher the quality of services we provide to our guests.
Pyrgi villa is by car 5 minutes far from the capital of the island ,Mytilini.Mytilini has its old and new town.Around its port you can find everything you need from food, tavernas.cafes, small groceries with local products, supermakets etc. There are two archaelogical museums the new and the old ,and the famous Teriade museum of modern art.Very interesting to visit is the castle and the Roman theater.
The nearest beaches from our residence, twenty minutes by car, situated out of the gulf, are Haramida beach and Agios Ermogenis beach. The closest taverna is 800meters from the vila situated in a tiny harbour. You can also find a lot of tavernas around the area with excellent local food at reasonable prices.
The unique hot spring of the gulf of Gera,10 minutes distance by car from our resort, dates back to the beginning of the last century. Renovations have respected the original architecture of the baths. The separate baths for men and women are the largest on the island. The big marble swimming pools look thousand years old.
Lesvos is blessed with Award-winning beaches, traditional villages, more varieties of birds and wildflowers than anywhere in Europe. Pine forests, medieval castles, scenic harbors with cafes and inexpensive seafood restaurants abundant fish, museums including two of the finest art museums in Greece, and some of warmest, friendliest people in all Greece.
Lesvos (or Lesbos) has been a favorite location for artists, writers, philosophers, romantics. It is the native land of Sappho, Alcaeus, Theofrastos student of Aristoteles, Ermarhos student of Epicurus, down to Teriade the famous modern art critic and publisher who donated a Modern art museum to Lesbos, the Nobel prize laureate Oddyseas Elytis, and many other famous Greek writers.
Furthermore, the natural beauties of the island, thankfully, are still unharmed from human intervention and provide a prevailing atmosphere which sustains that rich intellectual and cultural heritage .
The beaches of Lesbos and its unrivaled sunsets complement the island's most important natural resource, it's olive grooves which cover 40% of the island. Side by side with these features, are the works of man down the centuries: Aeolian column capitals, houses of incomparable architectural beauty and traditional industrial buildings find it easy to co-exist with works of art of invaluable value.
If you can come to Lesvos in the spring you will amply be awarded with one of the most incredible displays of wildflowers and wildbirds you have ever seen. Lesvos is a main stop in the migration routes for European birds coming from Africa and has an amazing variety of local birds.
