About this property

Luxurious Rural Barn with Pool & Hydrotherapy Spa. Miles of unspoilt beaches.

Recently restored Grade II listed Barn, 5 bedrooms with double bed in each and small nursery off the master bedroom (travel cot available on request).

Relax and enjoy great views from the windows of the minstrel gallery, have fun in the hot tub and swim spa, use the barbeque and enjoy outdoor games in the extensive grounds.

Medieval Swafield Barn offers high class self-catering accommodation in a truly outstanding building located in a beautiful rural setting, with large grounds and is located only a few minutes drive to the nearest beach.

Using the Barn as a base, guests can go on to explore Norfolk’s beautiful countryside and coastline and all that they offer. Medieval Swafield Barn is ideally located near the North Norfolk coast, close to the coastal resort of Mundesley (3 miles) with its wonderful sandy beaches, historic market town of North Walsham (2 miles), Cromer (8 miles) and the Broads (8 miles), Sheringham with its picturesque train station and variety of shops (13 miles). National Trust properties, Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall, are both just in 10 miles from Medieval Swafield Barn and both boast fabulous properties to look around and outstanding grounds. A little further afield you will find Sheringham Park, another National Trust property that is well worth visiting.

The Barn had, for years, been a rundown outbuilding until the current owner had the vision and passion to restore it create the beautiful space it is now. You will love the exposed brickwork and lofty beams and other original architectural features that have been left in situ to add to the historic and romantic feel of the Barn. Although the restoration was careful to leave signs of the past, it has a design-led blend of modern features such as the hot tub and swim spa, along with concealed lighting and underfloor heating for your comfort.

Up to two dogs are welcome at the Barn. At the beaches and at the National Trust grounds previously mentioned, you will find some great walks . The Butterfly reserve, Paston Way and Dilham to North Walsham canal (Norfolk’s only artificial, locked sailing canal) are five minutes walk from the Barn and ideal for leisurely walks or bicycle rides. The Canal Trust now offer boat trips throughout the year and funds from this are used to support the restoration of the canal.

The nearest villages are Swafield (1 mile) with the award winning local butcher, Tavern Tasty Meats, Trunch (1.7 miles) with an excellent pub 'The Crown Inn' and the Market Town of North Walsham (2 miles) containing several restaurants and large Sainsburys and Waitrose. We can highly recommend the quality of the food at the Chinese restaurant in North Walsham, charmingly called the Chubby Panda along with The Ship Inn at Mundesley which over looks the beach and is always good for a visit.

The Barn has ample parking for about 7 cars.

The bedrooms are divided up as so:

Bedroom 1 – Master. En-suite
Comprises 1 king size, 1 double

Bedroom 2 – this is within the Master bedroom but has it’s own door

Wonderful
Fantastic property, the pools are amazing, comfy beds, could maybe do with some more seating in the garden area, but would definitely go back 😊

Review of our family holiday
The barn is lovely place to stay, however, we encountered numerous small issues with the facilities which, in total, became quite a nuisance. Most of the issues could have been avoided by the team using a checklist to work through. Issues were: 1.None of the batteries in the TV remote controls worked. All needed new batteries 2. The drain in the en-suite shower of the main bedroom was partially blocked which caused the shower cubicle to fill with water 3. A shower in one of the other en-suite rooms didn't work properly 4 Kitchen tap was so loose that it had to be held to use, not an easy task given the high temperature of the hot water! 5. Tumble drier out of order! - Towels provided were like sand paper! 6. outside shower by hot tub didn't work due to a broken connection. 7. The waste bag in the vacuum cleaner was completely full making hoovering impossible ( a member of the team who came round & provided us with a new hoover bag). This lady also promptly arranged for the shower drain to be cleared and the tap to be completely secured - for which we thank her for her prompt attention .The barn is lovely but its tired and needs some serious TLC

Perfect hen house
The house exceeded expectations. We hired the house for my friends hen weekend, and all activities were planned around not leaving the property. We had a lady come to do a gong bath, a chef, and sports day! The space was just perfect for all of these. We were lucky with the weather as well, so spent a good amount of time in the hot tub too. The bedrooms were huge, and for 10 of us there was more than enough space. Highly recommend.

My name is Darren, am the owner and I live next door with my German Shepherd, Maximillian. I am disabled with have excellent local staff on hand to sort out any issue you may have during your stay.

Why they chose this property

The barn is a beautiful property that had never been lived in until I renovated it about four years ago. I personally sourced all the materials that went into the renovation and supervised the build to make a dream property with good sized bedrooms, open plan kitchen, spacious living room, bespoke oak staircase, underfloor heating etc.

To compliment it further I added a large hot tub and swimspa and fully enclosed the large garden so you can totally relax when you visit.

What makes this property unique

Stay in a unique medieval barn, close to the beach and within easy reach of all Norfolk's attractions. Enjoy peace in the country side with your own private garden and hot tub.
