About this property

Serene & cozy lakefront getaway on Congamond's pristine North Pond

Welcome to our property on Congamond's pristine North Pond - just twenty steps off the water! One of three bodies of water that make up the Congamond Lakes, North Pond is a quiet & cozy place, perfect for couples or families looking for a week long or weekend getaway! By day, you'll find boaters lounging and playing on the sandy, uninhabited shores of the far side of North Pond and fishermen/women exploring the water throughout the day. By night, you'll be able to sit on the porch or by the lake enjoying a serene, quiet atmosphere, watching the stars, sitting by the fire bowl and enjoying a drink that you fancy. We have a nice dock with ONE space available for use at no cost - motor boats & non motorized boats are welcome! Jet Skis are not allowed on North Pond per MA law, but can be launched nearby on Middle Pond with ease.

The water is very clean and many people float in tubes right off of the dock, Butter bottom of the lake in our particular area can be pretty mucky. There is a fantastic public beach it’s about a three minute drive away

The neighborhood is welcoming & filled with very friendly lake living neighbors and weekenders. It's a family oriented atmosphere, with many residents living in their current homes for 10, 20, 30+ years.

Our home has three bedrooms - Two queen size beds and one set of bunkbeds & one bathroom, And a finished basement -With a queen size bed. The home would comfortably accommodate a family of 5-6, and could easily accommodate a couple more. Granite counter tops, wide pine hardwood floors, a big leather sectional, and modern amenities fill the home - Keurig with a selection of coffee included, dishwasher, washer/dryer available for use, propane grill, and fire pit. All bedrooms & living room have separate air conditioners as well. Outside on the deck, enjoy time in a screened tent to stay out of the sun yet enjoy the lake.

It's truly a place where you can throw your car keys in the fish bowl and not touch them for a week if you didn't want to. Within walking distance are three fantastic places: Legends of the Lake, a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, - on the water; Nora's Restaurant, a mid to higher end restaurant that overlooks the lake from a nearby hill - a great place to enjoy a nice steak; and Louie B's - a restaurant/bar on the water featuring live music every weekend and rocking back deck.

Within a short drive, there's everything you would ever want - pharmacy, grocery store, gym, spas/salons, golf, antique shops, farm stands, one of the best fresh Donut shops (Mrs. Murphy's!) in New England, an ice cream shop (Summer Shack), brewery (Westfield River Brewery), and more. See below for a LONG list of nearby attractions and amenities!!

We've got loads of board games at the house for families to enjoy, as well as a flat screen Smart TV with Internet television access.

Relaxing lakefront week
This cozy cottage is perfect for a week away. The location on the quiet part of the lake is very relaxing yet close to restaurants, golf courses, and hiking areas. We had a small problem with the refrigerator and Tim was quick to respond and take action to rectify the situation. This was our second time at this house and hopefully, not the last!

About the host

Hosted by Tim Bertrand

Host profile image
Owners Tim & Cara Bertrand are from nearby Sturbridge, MA and spend their summers on Lake Congamond. We'll always be nearby on the weekends for any assistance needed, as we also own a home just two doors down! Tim grew up in nearby, Suffield, CT - and always dreamed of owning a home on Congamond. It is a very special place, with lots to do!

Cara is a writer of young adult books and Tim is an executive in the software industry. They have a young daughter who also enjoys the lake very much!

Why they chose this property

The minute we walked into this home, we were sold. You walk through the front door, and around the corner, an "infinity pool" that is the lake, catches your eye. The home has all the room you need for privacy & to get away, yet is cozy, modern and crisp. In addition - the lake offers three totally different experiences- North Pond, quiet and serene, Middle Pond - which is full of activity, water skiing, jet skiing, a sand bar for swimming and relaxing - and South Pond a large circular body of water that is a cross between North & South pond. The three ponds are connected by tunnels and are 11 miles long around the perimeter.

What makes this property unique

One of the best things about where our home is situated is that it has given us the best of all worlds. We can walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner if we wish - all within .2 miles from the house! We love the quiet & peaceful evenings on North Pond, yet just a quick walk or boat ride to the busy & bustling Middle Pond. Into Live Music? Boat or take a short walk to Louie B's. Need something from the grocery store? A 5 minute drive. Interested in exploring the area? Lots to do - only 15-20 minutes away - a Zoo, the Basketball Hall of Fame, Movies, a Gym, 2 golf courses and more!
