The place couldn't have been better, it was incredibly beautiful and Sheila and Keith were wonderful, very helpful, good suggestions for walks, gave our 13 year old lots of things to do and took us fishing. The accommodation was great, very comfortable and the location next to the beach great for canoeing.
Comfortable, practical cottage in a stunning location. Shelia and Keith lovely people. Remote location may not be for all but we thought it the best place on the island. Already miss this place so much.
Thank you Maxine. It was a real pleasure to have you stay. I know Keith enjoyed the company on the fishing trip. It was so good to share our love of this place with people who loved it as much as you do.
Quiet Beach Cottage on Skye (Sleat peninsula)
What a lovely home to share with our young family of four for a week. Situated right at the edge of the shore in Tokavaig on the southwestern Sleat peninsula on Skye, it feels like you are still living in the days of rugged crofting and the fishing/kelp gathering. Amazing short walks to the crumbling Dunscaith castle as well as pastures, old ruins, boulder outcroppings and postcard worthy views of the sea and surrounding mountain chains.
The house itself has clearly been recently renovated and was in excellent shape, well accommodated with excellent kitchen hardware as well as dishwasher and clothes washer, and thoughtful treats and details from the owner. Two bedrooms and a large bathroom that was well kept and lots of books and games for inclement days.
It feels hundreds of miles away from the hustle of the tourist circuit of Skye and after a long day of hiking and exploring the rest of the island, it was a wonderful respite to relax on the calm croft. That said, Skye is small enough to drive around in a day and come back to "Comraich" cottage in the early evening.
Nearby Broadford has a large supermarket and there are quite a few excellent restaurants within 30min of the house. You can reach it from the Skye bridge or take the fun 30 min ferry from Mallaig to Armadale which gets you much closer to the cottage. Highly recommended for couples and small families who want peace and comfort on their Skye holiday.
Thank you so much for your comments Jeff. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you caught some of those fish you were after!
Great place to get away from it all. Fantastic coast line and comfortable accommodation to return to after all those long walks!
