About this property

Ty Canol, Relaxing Character Cottage - nr. Abereiddy Beach (sleeps 2-5)

Ty Canol, one of two converted stone cottages here at Porthiddy Farm West, is set within a delightful part of Pembrokeshire countryside, just minutes from the superb coastline of this very special part of Wales.

Awarded 5* from Visit Wales, this charming and well presented cottage is set in a wonderful rural location. Walkers will delight at the nearby coast-paths and there is ample opportunity to explore St.Davids (15 minute drive away) with its stunning Cathedral, excellent restaurants and boutique shops. Beautiful, local beaches offer the chance for idle-days or water-sports for the more active. This location provides an escape to a peaceful and attractive spot.

Upon your arrival at the cottages, one of the first things the owners recommend to do is make your way down to the beach on foot, across the neighbouring fields at Porthiddy Farm West, through the rough common in the valley and stop and take in the views of the bay.

This short walk will take you past old cottages built for fishermen and workers at the old slate quarry (now the “Blue Lagoon”) and is instantly uplifting, particularly if you’ve had far to come. It is a fantastic spot to catch a spectacular sunset as you look out west from the beach.

Accommodation
Set on two floors, Ty Canol is full of cottage charm. The large kitchen provides a warm welcome and is well equipped with butler-sink, wooden table, chairs & cupboards, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The back door opens out onto a small patio area with outdoor seating. Also on the ground floor is a comfortable sitting room with TV, DVD player, and a downstairs bathroom with a full suite and shower over the bath. Upstairs there are two attractive bedrooms – a family room with a double and a single, and a twin bedroom with two single beds. There is also a shower room upstairs with shower, WC & wash hand basin.

Outside
The back door overlooks the farmyard garden and there is a private patio terrace area with outdoor table and chairs for you to enjoy breakfast alfresco. Walk through the gate into the Farmyard Garden and you will find a shared enclosed grassed area with stunning views towards Strumble Head – an ideal spot to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area.
There is a small-shared storage shed for storing your bikes, surf-boards, etc.

Parking
Alongside the cottage for one car.

Exploring
Bring your walking boots, your wellies and your flip-flops to make the most of this superb location. Close to the Coast Path and the sand and sea at Abereiddy Beach, it is a short walk to the stunning Blue Lagoon (home three times to Red Bull Cliff Diving). Nearby Porthgain, a small coastal village is lovely to explore with a pub and Fish & Chip bistro – walk the Coast Path either side of the village for breath taking coastal scenery. St.Davids, Britain’s smallest city, is just a 15-20 minute drive away. The Blue Flag Beach at Whitesands, great for surfing, is also a short jaunt down the coast – 5 miles away.

Wi-Fi
Ty Canol is fully Wi-Fi ready, so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

Dogs
Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome with a charge of £15 for each dog per week.

Hi I'm Rachael and I am the Property Manager for some lovely homes across the St.Davids Peninsula.

I love St Davids and moved here 15 years ago after many visits. It's a very special place and one that never fails to charm you. I have owned and managed holiday cottages ever since I arrived in St.Davids, so understand what makes a good holiday property and what guests are looking for during their stay.
I'm delighted to be looking after some lovely St.Davids properties - they are all cared for as if they are my own. I'll happily let you know all the local insights and best places to eat, walk and shop and am on hand if there is anything I can help with during your stay.

Hope you enjoy x
