About David Wegman
Hi! After 13 years with the Australian Army, a brief career as an Architect, and a whole lot of soul-searching, I decided to move to the country and enjoy the peace of the Australian bush. It is my absolute pleasure to be the custodian of this land and to share this property with people who are seeking a re-connection to themselves and nature.
David Wegman purchased this Lodge in 2018
Why David Wegman chose Wartook
This property delivers a stunning setting and has huge potential to evolve and grow into a mixed use space. Over the coming months I will be offering Yoga, Meditation, Rock Climbing and Sound Healing in our stunning Yurt and Tipi. The land, adjacent to the Grampians, has been a corridor for birds, bees, animals and humans for thousands of years. It is our intent to continue to find ways to live in harmony with the land and to offer you the experience to feel connected to mother earth.
What makes this Lodge unique
Not many places cater for larger groups, we do! Perfect for retreats, yoga, meditation or reunions; the focus is on connection. We are happy to help you get out and about and go exploring on the property and the adjacent Grampians National Park

We have been deducted the deposit for not following rules that prone to be misleading from the advertisement of the accommodation. Wish you all luck!1
Hi Joe (and future guests),
Unfortunately Joe did not follow the house rules and conditions which were provided both in the listing and also in hard copy in the lodge.
This led to a situation where Joe and his guests used a private building as a childrens play room where the kids damaged both the room and sound instruments.
We decided to use the security deposit to cover the cost of cleaning and repairing the instruments.
As an owner and manager, we are committed to clear communication with our guests and provide both digital and printed instructions to our guest. We now also brief guests personally to ensure that they understand the rules and boundaries.
I encourage potential future guests to connect with the past reviews, photos and some common sense when evaluating whether this review is relevant and indicative of the property.
We had a great time at the lodge. I have never seen so many Kangaroos in one place! Toasting marshmallows on the log fire, playing cards, drinking beer and rock climbing - not necessarily in that order! There was loads to do and it was a great place to stay.
Thank you for your stay at Wartook Rise / Kailash and we look forward to hosting you, your family and friends again!
Drinking water supply was in short supply. Tap on sink had coloured water as if it was coming from tank.
Someone's dog was roaming in property at night and morning which scared children and they did not want to play outside.
Ambiance of property was good, linen was clean.
Thank you for your stay and for your review. I have now taken over management and will ensure guests are briefed on where the resupply to the drinking water is.
It was listed in the previous managers instructions to guests which you may or may not have seen, but I will make things more clear so that future guests feel more at ease.
The tap water can be slightly discoloured as it comes from a local lake but it is safe for showers, teeth brushing and cooking.
The previous managers did not live on site, but I now do, so will be available to all guests in the future for assistance.
The dog was a neighbours labrador that had entered the property. In the future if you would like to contact management as issues arise we will offer immediate rectification (being a rural property in a nature setting it is impossible to keep all wildlife out)
I am also modernising the facility and am looking forward to surpassing your expectations if you choose to stay with us again in the magical Grampians.
Wonderful house. Highly recommended
Deb was a great host. Replied to questions immediately and even allowed us to have a lazy late check out. Property was a dream and everyone had a fantastic weekend
Thank you for your review and we look forward to hosting you again in the future.
Excellent stay - delightful Lodge
Had an incredible stay at Debbie's lodge - was amazing to see kangaroos in the surrounding land, and it was so peaceful and scenic. Very well located to Grampions tourist attractions - a short drive to McKenzie falls, the lookouts etc. Debbie was so helpful and friendly - we never met her but she had everything in order and was prompt and patient over email. Couldn't recommend it highly enough - the lodge was so homely and spacious - it is huge!!! Such a unique and enjoyable weekend.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and thankyou for taking time to post this review.
The Grampians (indigenous Gariwed = Mountain of Gods) is Australia's premier National Park with flora, fauna, mountain scenery, walking, climbing and wildlife that typifies the Australian Bush.
More than that though, the land is revered as sacred by 50,000 years of Aboriginal occupation, boasting the largest array of cave painting sites in Australia.
Close to several stunningly beautiful waterfalls such as the popular McKenzies Falls, the quieter Fish Falls and the serene Beehive Falls, the Wartook Valley is nestled on the Western side of the range, away from the tourists and noise of Halls Gap.
Come and let your soul experience the magic of this quiet, peaceful and rejuvenating slice of Australia.
