About Fleur von Mengersen-Wells
Dear Guest, I am quite a mixture. My father was a Belgian/ East German born Count, he became an agricultural scientist who married a Ukrainian university student during World War 2. The family lost everything during the war including the family castle. Our family migrated to Australia in 1952 and became Australian in 1956. I had a barefoot and care free childhood in a very small country town. So the genuine barefoot countess. 21 years later I also met my husband in that same small town - such a co-incidence!!! I had just graduated as a teacher and he an optometrist. However now I prefer to do a bit of Office Administration and manage Kiama Aspect on Jones Beach our HomeAway from home. We bought the house in 1987 when our daughter was 5. We only starting hosting guests 10 years ago and that activity has given me a lot of pleasure and a job. It has given 2 other people part time jobs as well. The house has benefited enormously from having guests in the form of facilitating renovations and I hope guests have benefited from having lovely relaxing holidays in a really interesting and diverse area and of course with in view of the sea - Kiama's Jones Beach. It has been a pleasure to share the house and the region with you all.
Fleur von Mengersen-Wells purchased this House in 1987
Why Fleur von Mengersen-Wells chose Kiama Downs
We chose this region and Kiama Aspect on Jones' Beach in particular because it was the closest point to the sea from our small country town in Central West NSW. The country roads to travel to it were the straightest. It was only a 2 hour train trip to get to Sydney and in 25 minutes or less Wollongong and Shellharbour were in reach with their wonderful shopping facilities. The food hall in both areas are superb. Why Kiama Aspect on Jones Beach - When you come from a small country town in Central NSW, once per year at least you hanker to see the sea. And if you are at the sea, ideally you want to see it every time you glance in that direction. There is something special about the sea. Swimming in the sea - somehow resets your compass for the working year ahead. It clears your mind. Kiama Aspect on Jones Beach was perfect for us, the township, shops , the Kiama Blowhole - it's a one stop location that offers just about everything.
What makes this House unique
Ocean views, 100 metres to the beach, walking and bicycle tracks, pet friendly beach, close to the Kiama golf course - a par 5 away, there are other beautiful courses in close proximity, close to outstanding scenery, close to Kiama town with a village feel and close to boutique vineyards - One would nearly have to say - "Close to perfection".

Perfect Aspect & Location, Sleek interiors & professionally managed
A very comfortable and professionally managed and sparkling clean renovated home. Bright and warm and very pleasant for a winter stay as well as summer. Secure and well kept rear yard for the animal companion which was very much appreciated. Thanks Fleur, we loved it.
Thank you Paul - We strive for impeccable customer service before, during and after your stay. Thank you for giving me the heads up regarding the washing machine, very much appreciated. I look forward to your return sometime.
Great house for a family getaway with the pooch.
Beautiful location, clean, stylish and comfortable.
I am glad to hear that the family and pooch enjoyed themselves at Kiama Aspect, I was glad to hear that you enjoyed the board games available at the house. They add to the fun and promote laughter. Fleur
Excellent Location - Great House!
Perfect stay! Would defiantly stay here again! Bedroom first on the right has the best mattress... very good night sleep.
Great to have guests who enjoy the comforts that Kiama Aspect on Jones Beach provides. The mattresses through out the house are King Coil from an Australian made bran, who are up there in terms of quality and comfort.I recommend this firm highly. Let us know when you are back in Kiama we would love to host you again. Fleur
Oven is an issue. Couldnt stop it from beeping after use plus the house need fumigating.
The house is beautiful, comfortable and very well equiped. Only issue is the oven keeps beeping after use which is very annoying and saw a few cochroaches around even in the bedroom and bathroom. Overall very happy with our stay and have enjoyed the Kiama area.
Thank you for your feedback and I am happy that you enjoyed the location and set up of Kiama Aspect on Jones Beach. Those smart ovens ....I wish they wouldn't talk back. The beeping is an indication that the oven dishes are resting on the oven front - they need to be away from the glass. The insects are unfortunately a feature of South coastal life a bit like the Kiama lighthouse. We do pest treatment once/year and betwixt times spray the entrances - however when they are on the wing - no house is exempt. I will get my man on to it.All the best Fleur
A Wonderful Weekend Break. 1st-3rd March 2019
My Daughter, 1 grandson, my dog Flirt and I shared the weekend at Aspect on Jones' Beach . Arriving in the dark on Friday with all the information Fleur had sent me we had no problem locating the lock box and accessing the house. Thank you Fleur for being exceptionally helpful with the organisation of the weekend and the written information was a great help. We couldn’t see outside at this point but we could hear the surf. The house was well set out, there was coffee and tea available, the beds were made and towels at the ready. The weather was a bid unpredictable and I was concerned it would turn out a wet weekend. On waking Saturday morning walking into the lounge room I could see the ocean as across the road was the beach. The view was excellent and during the day I could watch the people often with their dogs arriving. The off the leash dog beach is just a few steps from the main beach. The weather started a little rainy but as the day progressed it seemed as though summer had returned. My daughter and grandson quickly got themselves breakfast and headed to the beach for a swim. Flirt and I went for a walk on the grass area towards the dog beach which we took advantage of later in the day with my daughter and grandson. Before lunch Krystal and I walked the short 300m to the IGA and picked up supples for lunch and dinner. We used the microwave which was a little tricky to warm up a chicken. The kitchen is well supplied with all you would need plenty of crockery, glasses, cups and cutlery and utensils. Even salt and pepper and cooking essentials were supplied. After an enjoyable day of sun and surf we were able to relax and enjoyed one of many DVDs available. Unfortunately the TV didn’t have Foxtel, Netflix or Stan, I feel one of those would be beneficial for guests enjoyment. The house does have Wi-Fi and Krystal and especially Jett were able to use their tablets to play games etc. The weather turned quite warm and the air conditioning was wonderful. After the beach visits we all had showers to wash away the sand, the showers were easy to use and the towels very drying. Flirt a small Australian terrier was quite at home in the house and the backyard was quite big and very secure for her to roam about in.
Overall we all had a marvellous weekend break and would like the thank Fleur and her team for a wonderful well organised and secure Homestay.
I was delighted to hear your 3 generations enjoyed your stay. Thank you for sharing your photos with me. It is lovely for me to see the house alive with my guests. I have found that guests are able to login to the smart TV with their own Netflix and Stan accounts, however it is on my to do list - when I get my own account in the relatively near future. I look forward to welcoming you back at some stage.
Lovely property in a great location
Perfect for a family beachside break.
House was very clean and well equipped.
Would definitely stay again!
Great to hear that the family enjoyed their stay. We certainly aim to provide a great place for families to enjoy themselves. The park and the beach across from Kiama Aspect is one of the pluses of the location. I look forward to your return.
