What makes this Cabin unique
The original stone house known as "Craigielea" was originally built by Sir William Mountain as a summer retreat in 1876. The Cherokee Mountain Retreat cabins have been purpose built and sit well away from the main house with separate parking and access. The historic property comprises 25 acres and is surrounded by the Macedon Ranges State forest. Situated at 880 meters on the side of a mountain the views are extensive and truely magnificent taking in the Melbourne skyline, the mountain range of the You Yangs and beyond. There are no neighbours within a cooee, however all types of Australian native wildlife and birds visit on a regular basis such is the peace and tranquility. The cabins known as Cherokee Mountain Retreat were purpose built to provide a quiet getaway for tourists who want to visit the area known as The Macedon Ranges. There are several walking trails from the property through the Macedon National Park and the property itself has extensive gardens to wander through. Wombats, Wallabies, Koala and Echidna frequently visit the gardens and surrounds as well as a huge variety of birdlife. The surrounding townships of Woodend, Gisborne, Trentham and Kyneton offer a host of tourist activities including a number of boutique wineries, antique stores, local farmers markets. Historic Hanging Rock is only 10 minutes away by car and a must to visit. we look forward to hosting you on our mountain.

Loved staying here
We loved staying here. The views are stunning, the cabin is lovely and there are plenty of things to do in the area. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing place on a cold winters night to sip red wine and look at the wonderful view. We stayed in Eagle's Nest and the only thing wrong was not enough time to spend there and soak up the amazing atmosphere of this mountain paradise. The cabin has all you need, and would be a perfect place to get lost on a writers retreat, romantic getaway. Thanks Suzanne for an amazing stay. One day hope we can come back for a longer stay.
Well appointed cabin breathtaking views
Lovely comfortable, clean, spacious cabin, the views are amazing very secluded and peaceful. Will definately return next time we are in area.
Enjoyable , relaxing and peaceful.
The place was beautiful and spacious, however the size of the tv was small for the size of the room. Uht milk should of been provided on arrival. All up the stay was fantastic and views was breathtaking, very peaceful. When we come again and would love to stay in the same cabin.
Serene and secluded cabin in beautiful surroudings with panoramic views. A perfect holiday. We look forward to returning. Don and Marie
A fabulous mountain retreat
We had a wonderful, relaxing 3 nights in the Eagles Nest cabin. The view was incredible and everything we needed for a very comfortable stay was provided. The fireplace was greatly appreciated and we could enjoy the warmth while looking out at the beautiful view and birds feeding. Suzanne and Tony were very welcoming and gave us good suggestions for our walk and for spotting wombats on the property. We'll definitely be returning. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us, Suzanne and Tony. :-)
