About Julia King - Manager
" This magical place is our home, and nothing makes us happier than inviting you to come here and create your own beautiful memories. " ~ Keith & Elisabeth Hallett The story of Lonely Goat Olives began in 2001 when Keith & Elisabeth Hallett were travelling around the Hunter Valley wine region re-stocking their wine collection. Little were they to know that they would stumble on a 100 acre paddock with a few cattle and covered in tree stumps left by logging. It was love at first sight, the next Monday their offer was accepted and the journey began. With no idea what to do with this bush block with magnificent views Keith & Elisabeth consulted with the bottle of 2000 Shiraz they had just bought to try and work out what to do next. Gradually, soil improvement programs were put in place to breathe life into the cattle trodden paddocks. This was followed by the construction of 4 dams and a series of buildings. Keith & Elisabeth had a strong desire to be very kind to the environment and to be as self-sufficient as possible. In 2005 they were an early adopter of solar and wind technology to provide power for the entire farm. This was followed by rainwater harvesting involving a combination of tanks interconnected and allowing gravity fed water supply to all buildings. The quest for self-sufficiency continues with Keith & Elisabeth becoming self-sufficient in at least one more product each year. 2018 saw the introduction of a planting of saffron, turmeric and a number of other plants, and an expansion of the chook house to give the chickens more room to roam around (supplying Keith, Elisabeth and all the guests who come and stay with fresh eggs), and the construction of a large greenhouse for the ever expanding olive tree nursery. This story is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through hard work, vision and passion. Visit Lonely Goat Olives and hear the story told first had – you will be inspired. We look forward to meeting you!

This is one of those magical places where the reality is even better than the images. It feels like you're a million miles away from care, and the views are just amazing. Hosts were great and very accommodating.
The perfect couples getaway
If you are looking for a perfect weekend away with your partner, away from civilisation, away from phone signals, away from the distractions of modern life...get onto this place! Wood fire pizza oven, glass of red wine sitting around a massive bonfire staring out over the rolling hills and olive gardens...sound good? The cabins are super cute, the hampers are amazing, it is everything you could ever ask for.
We had a truly relaxing getaway and could not fault the facilities and hospitality. Loved the little touches like the basket of goodies and enjoyed making pizzas with the ingredients. We often move around to different places but I can honestly say we are coming back to lonely goat olives within the next 12 months and that’s something we have never done. Top marks for a weekend away from Sydney, switching off from all that nonsense!
It was like our own peace of heaven , our kids don't want to leave ! The wild life is amazing to watch , the cottages are absolutely gorgeous! The views around you are like being in heaven . Keith and Elizabeth are wonderful, kind people , perfect host . We had delicious BBQ's, cooked our own pizzas in the pizza fire oven, stat around the fire pit roasting marshmallows, went fishing , hiking , fed the high land cattle , fruit picking , olive picking . We needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney and this was perfect . Our kids really needed this as well and they loved it . Our son's anxiety just went away here , our daughter who is autistic felt relaxed and calm which is hard for her , but she really could relax here . you are so at peace here . You can relax , let your mind stop worrying about everything and absorb the beauty around you. We will be coming back again . And I will be recommending this place to everyone. We love it !
Repeat visit to this gorgeous little holiday escape. Everything perfect, could want for nothing more. Peace, quiet, amazing views.
Elizabaeth and kieth have done a great job of creating a beautiful spot to stay and explore what the hunter has to offer. We stayed for our 11th wedding aniversary and brought along our fur baby who was welcomed as much as we were. It was a time to kick back and relaxe for us enjoying the food we created with the fresh herbs and seasonal veg that we had been aloud to use while on our stay. The outdoor kitchen and pizza oven added a great twist to our cooking delight and the hamper of food supplied if you stay 2 nights or more was very generous to sya the least. Thanks again to Elizabeth, Kieth and Julia for there fantastic service we will be back and will spread to word of your property.
Cheers John and Jo Sercombe
