Wonderful piece of Tassie that ended on a sour note
The property was beautiful and our host Brad was overly hospitable showing us around the property. He helped set up some temporary fencing for our non verbal ASD child which we greatly appreciated as our child is a runner. Very quiet location and a very short walk to the river, loads of games to play! Not far at all from Port Sorrell.
The house is well looked after and is clean. The deck is amazing for relaxing and BBQing.
Negatives: When discussing check out, brought up by the host; I felt a little uncomfortable when asked if I was intending on leaving early at check out. When I replied probably not, it became a little more uncomfortable when asked if he could arrive half an hour earlier than check out to start cleaning. I assume he had another family coming in that day, but it made me feel like I was put on the spot to oblige.
Brad called the next day, and spoke my son and let him know how to clean the hot tub and asked us to do it after each day if we are using it. Not too bad, lucky there were two pool maintenance people staying in the property and were ok with adding cleaners.
We went out one of the days to visit a beautiful beach not far away, returning with a phone call from the owner asking how our stay was. Thought this was cool, so I let him know the hot tub looks quite cloudy even though we were doing what he asked. He mentioned he saw that WHEN HE CAME AROUND TO GET SOMETHING. I then felt invaded that someone had been on the property while we weren't there. I am sure this is not recommended through Stayz. He did offer to come then and there to clean it for us, but we said all ok we are only here one more night, it's ok if we don't use the tub. He asked if he could come at 9:30 then to start cleaning it. I said all ok with that as I felt he really wants to get here early (the second time asked). We decided we would leave by 9, I am not used to seeing the owner this much. My husband then received a very rude phone call from Brad swearing it at him and everything saying one of us did a big dump in his hot tub! He had cleaned it before sending us photos, but I still insisted on paying for the cleaning of it and the labour it took to clean it (please note he didn't ask me to pay for the labour, but I did). I felt extremely insulted of being accused of this especially without evidence.
Therefore a well earned relaxing week away with friends, ended with me having anxiety over our last phone call from the landlord.
Lovely surrounds, very clean and well stocked house! The spa was wonderful, we loved eating on the deck overlooking the water and the pool table was a winner with the kids.
Everything in one place
We had a wonderful stay, it was a great place for our work Christmas party. The property was generous enough for us all and had a great entertainment space indoor and out. We would recommend for families or groups alike.
Ideal for two families to stay and relax or play
Walking up the stairs to the big enclosed deck then into the house immediately had us relaxing. The views from the deck and kitchen looking out over the trees to the water was just beautiful. Brad was very welcoming and informative. Games room downstairs had us acting like young kids. If you plan on staying here give yourself at least a week to chill and relax. Can't wait to get back there
A great place to stay.
We stayed here for 3 nights. The house was clean and comfortable and in a quiet location. The best part was the outside verandah overlooking the estuary; closed on 3 sides it was a great shelter from the wind. It was a very short walk down to the estuary and boat ramp and at low tide it was possible to walk out on the sands to look at the shorebirds.
It is close enough to Nawruntapu NP (closer than most accommodation though still a good drive). Unfortunately both the Tassie Devils (due to mouth cancer) and Wombats (due to mange) have largely disappeared from the NP, though there were plenty of wallabies. There was also a great variety of birds, both around the house and in the NP.
This short break was exactly what we needed and it was made so easy and enjoyable by our great host! We were greeted at arrival with a short and informative tour of the house, facilities and a run through of the nearby area and shops. The house was very clean, comfortable and the views were so lovely. The area was so peaceful and the house was equipped with all the things we needed to make our stay hassle free. Can’t wait to stay again and use the hot tub in summer!! Thanks Brad, you’re a super host!!
