Amazing Atmosphere in the Vines
The Villa is wonderful and quite. But the vineyard has an amazing party atmosphere. We had Jazz band right on verandah, during the day.
Look forward to seeing you stay again Alex, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Excellent holiday destination!
Excellent, loved our stay! Five of us stayed at Barristers Block Vigneron Villa for a week. We loved staying there. The grounds are beautiful & the home is very nice. We loved the fact that it was an older home. It has been done up so that it is still tasteful & comfortable while not losing its charm. Staff were great. We were attending a convention for three days of our stay & every evening when we got back staff had taken the time to light the fires so that we arrived in comfort. Everyone was very helpful & I would happily recommend this as a place for your next holiday.
Excelent holiday stay!
We stayed at Barristers Block Vigneron Villa for a week. There were five of us & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Its old world charm with all the mod cons you need. We were attending a convention for 3 days & each night when we got back the staff had fires going so that we would be comfortable. We had a wine & a cheese platter waiting on arrival & plenty of food as well. Surroundings are beautiful also. Staff were very friendly & we would definitely recommend it as a holiday destination!
Lovely, relaxing stay
We stayed at Barristers Block for a weekend while attending a wedding at a winery in Lobethal. Jan was very welcoming and the house was really lovely and comfortable. Jan went out of her way to prepare the house for us with open fires, electric blankets, breakfast, flowers, and even books, toys and dvd's for our three kids. The garden is beautiful and the kids loved running around outside with the animals. The house was very clean, the beds all comfortable, and most importantly; the shower had plentiful hot water... I would love to come back and spend more time here (although perhaps next time without the kids so we can spend some time at the winery!).
I profess to being slightly confused by the other review I saw for this property as we found absolutely nothing to complain about. The house is old; but that is what I loved about it - it had character and ambience... a really lovely escape. Thank you.
We booked for 8 nights and had to pay the full amount up front 2 months in advance which is unusual. We offered to pay 50% in advance and the balance when we arrived. This offer was declined. It was a 100% or nothing.
The house was old with high ceilings, no carpet and very cold. There were no electric blankets and only cotton sheets. Nights were cold down to 4 degrees and average about 7 degrees. There was a fire place in the lounge and two oil fired fin heaters which were not sufficient to heat the house. There was hair in the shower grate left from previous guests. We stayed 8 nights and we were never offered a change of sheets for our bed. It was advertised as having a washing machine and clothes dryer. We could not find them and when we asked the husband about it, he replied that there was a public laundry available in town. False advertising. There was no heated towel rail to dry the towels and face cloths.
On day six when we were eating breakfast the local power company rep arrived and said he had to turn the power off because the power bill had not been paid !!
We told him we were guests and he should talk to the owners. The power stayed on thank goodness.
The most disappointing aspect of our stay was that we never met the hostess. Her husband we met on day one and he said the B n B was his wife's business but we never met her. We should have been a bit suspicious when the hostess asked for the full amount paid in advance.
