Comfortable Mariposa Vacation Home, Between Two Yosemite Gates
About Sherry Nohava
My husband, Tom, and I have been married for 40+ years. We love to entertain and to meet new people. That is why we are drawn to the vacation rental business. This is a dream we have followed for our married lives, and now we are excited to make it happen. We take great pride in our Mariposa vacation rental properties and do our utmost to keep them in great condition. We're constantly making improvements to them.
Sherry Nohava purchased this House in 2007
Why Sherry Nohava chose Mariposa
Yosemite National Park is one of our favorite places on earth. I love waterfalls and Yosemite offers some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. Mariposa is a quaint town with a lot of nostalgia. We love the fresh mountain air, the snow-capped mountains surrounding our valley, the friendly people, the boutiques and antique shops in the town, and the fine dining offered both in Mariposa and at the Park. We enjoy seeing all kinds of wildlife at our property. When we go there, we feel totally removed from the stress of the city life.
What makes this House unique
The well in this home offers some pristine crystal clean water. We're in a great location on a country road where the wildlife roams free. We frequently see deer, wild turkeys, birds of prey, raccoons, coyotes, and even an occasional bear. The bears generally are shy and timid and are not considered to be a problem. This home is in a great country location, less than 5 miles from the town of Mariposa, and conveniently located between two Yosemite gates.

Less expensive than Yosemite hotels
It’s a manufactured home, and it’s showing it’s age. Bathrooms will make you shake your head, they are your grandparents fiberglass tubs.
The water pressure is very week. The shower heads are low flow so it works ok, but washing your hands in the sink will take some time.
The living room tv doesn’t have access to Netflix etc...
The kids room with the 2 twin beds does have access to Netflix
The grill has lighter fluid but no charcoal
The owner requests that you leave the porch lights on at all times. This creates a challenge with bugs at night as they are attracted to the light, and it makes it uncomfortable to star gaze at night. The sky out there is amazing. Bummer you have to walk to the road to enjoy it.
There are a couple of ice trays, but you will run out of ice so bring a bag.
The living room furniture is quite hodge podge, old and not very comfortable (one of the couches is a futon and those are never comfortable so, there you go). Lucky for us we were there for Yosemite, not to lounge in the living room.
This is a good Yosemite home base if you don’t want to spend the money on being inside the park at a hotel, or rough it in a campsite. It is an hour or more to get from the park to the house depending on where your last hike for the day was. Keep in mind, mariposa is the first town you reach upon exiting the park.
Nice to have a kitchen and bathroom versus a tent at half dome village.
The kitchen is well stocked, the pots and pans are older but they work
There are some basics like coffee filters, some seasonings etc... there are no condiments or basics in the fridge, just be sure to bring your own.
There were 2 super sweet female pit bulls that hung out with us. One is Abby and the other is Bailey. They were well behaved and ‘protected’ us from the coyotes at night. We could hear them yipping around the area and Abby chased them away, two nights in a row. They befriended our dog too. We don’t know who they belong to but they are healthy and happy puppies. They are extremely friendly. Bailey is more shy than Abby. They don’t try to go into the house. We really enjoyed their company.
Good stock of great thick and soft towels.
The beds were comfortable and the linens clean.
There is shampoo in the showers.
There’s a high chair if you have a baby.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
My family and I truly enjoyed our time at Mariposa. The home was perfect for us.
Close to everything but not so close you can’t see the stars.
This is a nice little house that fit our group of 6 very well. The owner is fantastic and took care of us like I have never experienced before. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and there is plenty of room for groceries. Beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked great. (It was almost 100 degrees while we were there, so it was totally necessary.) The property is exactly half way between both Park entrances (about 1 hour) and 5 minutes from downtown Mariposa.
Nice place to stay
Confy and quiet
I’ve stayed at many vacation homes but this home needs some major repairs.
Laundry was left in washer and dryer. No towels left in restrooms. Ants found on counters and dead ants in refrigerator. Broken rocking chair. States that rental sleeps eight but only if you’re extremely short and on a futon. Extremely small living room to hold more than five adults. Over priced for the amount of room in the house. This home needs some extra love to become a true vacation home.
We understood there was an issue with the cleaning crew when you arrived and promptly issued you a refund for their oversight. We were still picking up the pieces from the recent wildfire. The bathrooms should have been well stocked with towels, shampoo, etc., and for that I apologize. The rocker you're referring to is a recliner that doesn't recline anymore, and that will be replaced. This listing will also be modified to allow a maximum of 6 guests from here on out. Thank you for your input.
Its an amazing experience and we loved it lot!!! My kids are enjoyed this place, playing with kitten especially. Most beautiful things are place, surroundings, easy access, kitten and Peafowl. We enjoyed Yosemite trip.
