Very spacious property with pleasant garden. Fully equipped with more than enough dishes. Ideal for a family. On an extremely hot day the air conditioning unit in the lounge struggled to cope.
Thank you for your stay. Unfortunately on days of 39C followed by 43C, short of moving to Antarctica, it's going to be hot... Unfortunately extreme weather is something that occurs in Australia and is very hard to deal with.
Great home away from home
House was great, so clean and so many amenities, it was like being in your own home. Only short 20 min walk to city centre. Would definitely stay here again!!
Great family holiday house
Thank you Steve for providing such a great home for our stay, All of the facilities were great from the new kitchen to the new bathrooms. Everything you could think of was there. As a family that loves board games we made the most of them in our down time. We really appreciated the added touches such as toilet paper and toiletries which you rarely if ever get in other homes. The welcome basket was great also
We had a lovely stay here
My family loved this home in Mornington. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms were of good comfortable size although we would have preferred a firmer mattress to sleep on. The house is close to the Main Street with all the necessary amenities. We found a lovely restaurant called the Rock serving fresh good seafood located at Schnapper’s pier. The house is on a nice quiet safe street which we value . One downside is , the lightings in the rooms are rather dim. Other than that, I highly recommend this place. Thank you Steve for allowing us to stay in your lovely home
Thank you for staying at The Wheelhouse and for your kind words. The mattresses are being replaced in late April (along with the outdoor couch). Most of our maintenance is done during the off-season (April - September) but hopefully the mattresses were not too soft as they are only a few years old.
We will also have a look at the lighting in the bedrooms and see if we can increase the lighting a bit. Currently the lighting is part of the fans, which limits the types of globes that we can use, but where there is a will there's a way. Thank you for your thoughts!
review on 44 Moomba Mornington
We enjoyed our week in Mornington, we had gone there for an event and used the house as a base.
It was an extremely hot week and not having air con in the back part of the house for sleeping was terrible, especially the room that had the window under the car port, no air circulated and the window winder was also promblematic. The couple staying in that room complained that there was no air being blown down on them from the ceiling fan, posible it was on winter mode... this needs to be checked.
We felt the house needs some TLC.... it is aging and there were many areas that needed attention, example - none of us would sit on the outside lounge due to the dust and mould, and the lounge in the inside lounge room had not been cleaned well... lifting the cushions resulted in marbles and crumbs... it is also quite uncomfortable.
Having a direct connection to the owner of the house was great.
Over all the house met our needs.... having milk in the fridge and some comfort foods on the bench when we arrived were a welcoming start. the beds were comfortable and linen quality was great... the shower worked well, had a lovely shower each time....For the cost of staying in the Wheelhouse, it was good value and we enjoyed our week, and I would recommend the property to others to use in the future.

Thank you for your review
Unfortunately when the temperature gets to 37 for 3 days in a row and the minimum overnight temperature is 25, it's going to be a difficult nights sleep. Having an air conditioner in each bedroom would make the price of staying significantly more expensive (we cater to good value) and we believe is just not environmentally sustainable to do that. We did check the fan and it is definitely pushing air onto the bed (ie: summer mode) but as mentioned, during high heat days and nights, it may not feel that way as the heat can be oppressive. It's hard to know exactly what you can do with those sort of days.
The outdoor couch may not be everyone's cup of tea but we have had a lot of compliments over the years from people using it. It can get dusty (it does live outside) and we clean it before every stay (we did not find any mould however) but that being said, it is being replaced at the end of April this year, the traditional end of the holiday season.
We do continually try to address all concerns as they come up and are always happy to hear people's experience. We pride ourselves on our cleaning (we do this ourselves, we don't outsource it) and will make sure we don't miss the crumbs under the cushion you found next time. We have a Dyson and we are not afraid to use it!
Thank you for your stay and your thoughts
