About Sally Keady
The property was purchased by my parents, Tim and Patricia Negus in 1995. Over the following 10 years they planted a vineyard and built a unique mudbrick house, winery and chapel using the earth and timber from the property. Some of the paddocks are leased for grazing by dairy cattle. The winery has since closed but my mother's art studio is open to the public. My husband and I started restoring the original group settlement farm house in 1999 and we have enjoyed many family holidays there since then. In 2012 we decided that it would be nice to share the cottage with other people and to derive some income from renting it out to help with the maintenance and upgrades.

Swallows Cottage is located 10 minutes from Margaret River and 7 minutes from Witchcliffe. It is convenient to town and local attractions but located on a quiet farm called Swallows Welcome, home to the Art Studio/Gallery of Patricia Negus which has beautiful cottage gardens and a unique mudbrick chapel open to the public 11am - 4pm Tuesday to Sunday . The cottage is a historic farm house, built as part of the group settlement scheme in 1926. It has been lovingly restored and furnished to reflect it's history but with all the modern comforts. There is a slow combustion wood fire in the cosy living room, perfect for a winter holiday.
Nearby attractions are Watershed, Leeuwin and Voyager wineries, Amazin' Maze, the Berry Farm, Yahava Coffee and the historic little town of Witchcliffe. Witchcliffe has a roadhouse/post office that sells basic groceries, a liquor store, Yardbyrd Café, Witchy Pies and Cookies Galore, The Flying Wardrobe (antiques and bricabrac) and two shops selling handicrafts made by local artisans. It is a 15 minute drive to Redgate beach, 30 minutes to Augusta and Boranup Forest. There are lots of walking, fishing, bird watching and hiking opportunities in the area.
The farm has a small vineyard, a dairy herd, sheep, farm dogs, wild kangaroos and emus. There is an incredible variety of birds including splendid wrens, golden whistlers, robins and parrots. If the bird baths have water in them then they will have birds in them! There are lots of places to relax outside including a picnic table under the trees, a bbq and outdoor setting on the back verandah, rocking chairs and an outdoor setting on the front verandah.
