I’ll sum this up easily by listing the pros and cons.
Location is good. Really with this place you are paying for the view. It does have a nice view of the water and the location is convenient for port Arthur as well if that’s what you are wanting to visit in the area.
If I had only stayed at this place I would have thought not having a heater was normal. Literally every other of the 4 places we stayed had electric heaters, most places had multiple ones from my memory. This place had a fireplace, yes it’s nice and it can set a nice mood but I would have liked the option of the heater, trying to light the fireplace because it’s cold every night gets very old once the novelty of having a fireplace wears off. I should add the bed had heated blankets but who wants to get out of bed and get dressed in an ice cold house? The fireplace is not capable of heating the entire house I should add. Finally, if I’m being honest the place seems dated, it’s NOT dirty but dated.
Finally, out of all the places we stayed this owner was the only one I could not get a phone number for until we got to the place. My email didn’t get answered until after we were already checked in and finally one of the phone numbers in their house guide is disconnected and no longer works.
If you add all this up it appears like someone thought it was a good idea to rent the place but without thinking of all the things that go into providing an experience the guest will appreciate.
We booked this place based on the reviews, so I thought it was important that I post about our experience and why we felt the way we did about it.
Hi Charles - thanks for taking the time to share your experience. You are right we do have lovely views and a wonderful wood heater and electric blankets on all the beds. We have always found the wood heater more than ample to heat the whole house (in fact it can really get quite toasty indeed) but I understand that everyone has different expectations. The house is not brand new - you are also right, Greg built it as our holiday home when the kids were little so it is about 8-9 yrs old but we find it comfortable and a lovely, easy place to stay so are happy to share it with other like minded people. .
I must confess I don't monitor my email 24/7 continuously but always check once a day at least, generally in the morning, so I am sorry I couldn't respond to your request to check in earlier in the time frame you would have liked me to - I did check my emails in the morning and again later that day when I got back to you but you snuck in your request in that gap when I was out with the family.
You are right - your honest appraisal of your experience is important so others can make up their mind as to whether this is the property for them. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
Take care, Martha
Beautiful views, homely location, would love to return.
This accommodation is absolutely beautiful. Such excellent value for money for the outstanding location and views. I have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and found this to he an excellent balance. Martha is a lovely host, she was extremely supportive during a HomeAway/Stayz glitch, which I really appreciate. Very happy we chose to stay here and look forward to returning to again in the future. Thanks, Martha!
Thanks Cobi for the lovely review, it was a pleasure having you stay.
Spacious, well appointed house with a fantastic view
Fantastic location near a stunning beach with easy access to the Tasman Peninsula. House was great for self catering.
Great location for visiting Port Arthur. Home had a terrific view, bed was comfortable, new carpets overall a nice stay
Thanks Anne-Marie, glad you had a comfortable stay. Take care, Martha
We had a wonderful time at WhiteBeach Holiday House. Such a relaxing, peaceful spot to hideaway in!
The house is very well equipped , meticulously clean and beds very comfortable. We especially loved the magnificent views and the lovely deck from which to enjoy the picturesque outlook. Martha and Greg’s booklet of hints and tips was a great idea and we also appreciated the tourist brochures and books that were available. A great place to visit and we hope to come back again soon!
Ocean views from every room
We stayed at Whitebeach Holiday House in December 2018, just a bit late doing the review!
My partner and I had such a relaxing time at Martha's place! It was so lovely reading the story and looking at the photos of how the building came about. We spent the mornings relaxing on the deck with the resident kookaburra and watching the echidna in the yard. Just an amazing spot. Great place to unwind (further) after doing the Three Capes track and explore the Tasman peninsula. 10/10 would recommend.
Hi Kate, so pleased you had a relaxing stay and met the resident kookaburra, he loves visiting and hanging out on the deck. Take care, Martha
