We had a great time starting here.. location was perfect, close to everything. Loved playing the guitar that was hanging on the wall.. We tried to use the vacuum to do a last minute clean but unfortunately it had absolutely no suction power whatsoever. Needs to be checked..
Worst stay in mountains ever!
Poor administrative processes - despite booking months ahead the booking was cancelled on the day I left home, property has lots of hidden fees and there is misleading and not enough information provided, property is unsuitable for dogs - fence not dog proof, grass unmowed and dog poo left in grass, owners not dog friendly. Owners charge huge amount for dogs to stay ( despite offering a discount they still kept the additional fee and then took more from the deposit for cleaning bed linen because of dog hair ( dogs were kept off furniture and I put my own clean sheets down and rolled up carpets to minimise hair ... (I didn’t go away to do the laundry and vacuuming’), owners uninterested in my concerns during stay (shook off responsibility for stating the property was properly fenced when I checked prior to booking, replied with an emoji when I texted to explain the remote not working and no reception, property is close to highway and there was constant traffic noise throughout the stay , owner didn’t reply for days and said “ you were annoyed from the beginning and there was extensive dog hair and we had to wash doonas, and ( rather bizarrely) said the cottage accommodated for guests who were allergic to dogs. One wonders why they allow dogs to stay at all! Very small area where dogs are allowed given the grounds are not dog proof. Owners will take your money and brush you aside. When discussing my experiences with friends I’ve since learned from others who live in mountains and Sydney that they have also stayed here and had similar experiences ...
This guest decided to contact us on the day she was arriving via an online inquiry rather than through the message section in booking she'd already made. This forces us to have to respond but also cancel the request or it effects our ranking metrics within HomeAway.
The guest was then confused that her booking had been cancelled.
Liv advised that she was driving at the time so it must have contributed to her confusion.
There are no hidden fees on HomeAway as everything is stated on the booking page and property description for review before having to commit to anything.
The facts are that Liv was disgruntled by having to pay for pets and hadn't accepted the payment request until the day of arrival.
We even provided her a discounted rate by 50%.
When I called to speak with her, she had a very dismissive tone and said she wasn't in a good mood.
I knew then that this would likely lead to a negative review.
Our issue with Liv's stay was that she allowed her two dogs on both beds and all the lounge room furniture and the excessive amount of dog hair that was shed, resulting in our housekeeper (who isn't petty in her claims might I add) sending us pics and stating that she had to repeatedly go over everything a few times to try and remove the hair.
Liv said she "rolled up the carpets and put down sheets"
In my honest opinion, there's no way that was done, given the amount of hair that was throughout the property.
We host plenty of guest with pets and rarely have an issue the likes of this one.
We aren't in the business of trying to take money from our guests and unless it is really warranted. In this case it was and we had to cover the extra cleaning and laundering required.
Liv also messaged the night she arrived and complained about the remote not working, but then messaged back to say she'd swapped out the batteries and there was no longer an issue.
The lawns are mowed every two weeks and the property is well maintained as our previous reviews will show.
Sometimes people just can't own their actions and leave unfounded negative reviews out of spite instead of being honest about the facts.
We responded immediately to every contact from Liz and refute her claim of not doing so.
As for "speaking with other friends who have stayed there from the mountains and Sydney who experienced the same"
This is a straight out lie.
Would you live in the mountains and stay at a holiday rental in the mountains??
An overall very disappointing experience with this guest.
We just loved this cottage. So well equipped pantry and kitchen. Excellent heating. Very comfy bed and lounge. Beautiful big yard for our little dog to run around and explore. Just a short 5 - 10 minute walk to Leura Mall and cafes and shops. We were even lucky enough to wake up to snow on one morning!! Loved it here. Will definitely be back one day!

Comfortable and well appointed
A wonderful and spotlessly clean cottage with everything we needed for a long weekend stay from lovely thick towels to a really well appointed kitchen. Close to shops and restaurants, we’ll definitely be returning .......
We were delighted with the location, the warm and comfortable furnishings, excellent bed and bedding, the great bathroom including very good shower, the spotless cleanliness, the exceptionally well-equipped and well-supplied kitchen, the the variety of entertainment options, and the efficient heating. Plenty of indoor options (including children's games if required). The yard is fully fenced and dog-friendly. We should be happy to stay again and should certainly recommend "Allegra" cottage to others.
