About lynda gardener
I am in interior decorator who loves to collect one off finds around the world as well as local markets. I have over the years decorated not only my own properties (all on Stayz for accommodation) but also, bars, cafes, hotels around Australia. I love all of our 4 properties which are all one off and unique, however all share my signature brand of one off collections mixed in new details/furniture - I hope you love staying at any one of them should you stay with us!
Why lynda gardener chose North Fitzroy
this property is truly unique, its part of an old Mattress factory I renovated many years ago! loads of character and in the best location (I believe) in Melbourne.
What makes this Studio unique
I love that its located down a laneway (very Fitzroy) and so close to the best cafes, bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. I have lived here in the area for 30 years and would not want to live anywhere else! I know you will love it too!

The White Room is quite simply a must stay for anyone wanting a beautiful individual space. The unique decor is charming and the room oozes soul. A very special Melbourne destination.

loveliest north Fitzroy secret nest
Absolutely lovely magical little secret spot...well set up and equipped, very comfortable and super stylish in a wonderful liveable way. Great bed and shower. Stunning vines and leaves. Filled with natural light and treasures.
thank you so much Rosie, we love that you enjoyed it so much and totally 'get' the tiny tranquil place that The White Room is......we hope you will return one day soon. thank you again!
The White Room, Fitzroy
Congratulations to Lynda on a magnificent Interior Design job with the White Room, Fitzroy. Everything worked super smoothly & the tram just outside straight into the city was perfect. The old leather chair was a highlight. Love it. Not for the traveller who loves global hotel chains.
and we loved having you Bruce....someone that 'gets' the look and feel so well. thank you - it's a place made for special people like yourself. look forward to having you again!
Thank you Lynda for sharing your beautiful home.
thank you John for staying with us and we do look forward to the next time!
Our stay at The White Room.
We found The White Room comfortable, quirky, convenient and most of all QUIET - which we loved. The bed is blissfully comfortable, and the breakfast provisions and great range of teas were very much appreciated.
Our only problems were a very weak sporadic wifi, and a rather rickety armchair..
Car parking is free, but you do need to be aware of the local parking regulations.
Thanks to Lynda for a fine time.
thank you for your lovely review Mandy.....love that you found it quite and quirky......so sorry re the weak wifi, we have had NBN installed and have no idea why so slow and weak......we will look into this immediately....thank you for highlighting this for us.....thank you for staying with us and hope to have you back in the future......Lynda
We went from the Hilton Adelaide to the White Room so I have to say I was missing the uncluttered functionality of modern spaces while we stayed here. The room has bucket loads of style and it’s a great launching pad for all the fabulous restaurants and bars on your doorstep in North Fitzroy but I did long for a decent surface on which to spread out my toiletries bag and the big basket full of dusty scrolls near the door could be replaced with some open shelving for clothing. I did appreciate though some of Lynda’s other choices like the ‘not tested on animals’ bathroom products and the ‘who gives a crap’ dunny rolls. The room is also stocked with all those things that you would choose to have at home like decent coffee and beautiful teas and the bed is super comfy and bed linen and pillows add to a good nights sleep. I would just make the point that given the modern need to charge iPhones and iPads, hunting for a power outlet or one that can accommodate a charger is a little bit of a drag. And for a small subscription fee the opportunity to stay in and watch Netflix on a cold and windy night would dispel the feeling of being thrown back in time. The powerpoints are there as are other things you need, just be prepared to straddle a few different time periods regards ease and convenience. Overall I loved the opportunity to stay here and experience the cool vibe of North Fitzroy. It’s a little bit Jack Irish with a lot of hipster chic. Thanks Lynda
