THE GRAINERY@THE HOMESTEAD - A stunning piece of old world charm nestled in a hidden rural valley surrounded by magnificent sandstone escarpment in beautiful KV. (2 night minimum stay)
THE HOMESTEAD is the original farmhouse of the property The Cedars in Barrengarry (Kangaroo Valley) NSW built in 1930, renovated in 1980, and reinvigorated in 2012-18. The original outbuilding and underground well date from late 1800s. The eclectic collection of building material and furnishings include antique, old, new, recycled, and reinterpreted items collected from the property, the district and overseas, particularly featuring cedar furniture where possible. Located on five rural acres including manicured gardens, vegetable and herb gardens, and "girt" by original rainforest featuring century old cedar trees. THE HOMESTEAD is surrounded by Morton National Park, pastoral surrounding rural properties in the foreground and nestled amongst the majestic sandstone escarpment. THE HOMESTEAD is located towards the end of a rural road and provides a quiet, peaceful farm experience; yet is easily accessible only 10 minutes by car to Kangaroo Valley, 35 minutes to Berry and Bowral, and 2 hours from Sydney or Canberra.
THE GRAINERY – a fully self-contained studio cottage with antique queen wrought iron bed, kitchenette, bistro table, sitting area, wood burning heater, ensuite and deck overlooking gardens. The building is made partly of original recycled materials from a demolished building on the property (a grainery) imbibing a blend of old world charm and modern convenience. The furnishings feature cedar antiques.

Introducing the animals on the farm:
Leo and Missy the felines are loving their new home. They are rescue kittens and love running in the garden. They wear bells on their collars to alert local wildlife and sleep in the house at night. Missy is likely to come to say hello to you, Leo is a little more reserved.
Polly, Imogen and Isabella, the alpacas – look like moving sculptures on the landscape. Feed them by hand. Polly is the most friendly and is very inquisitive around new people. Isabella is the matriarch and rules the roost which often means nudging Imogen, who is a little more shy, out of the way. Depending on the time of year, they have a thick coat of sought after wool. Other times they are shorn and look a little more silly. We recently have added Zeus to the menagerie. He is a black coated male alpaca, now protector of them all.
Rajeev, the peacock – struts his stuff from October to February with full plumage, but is always walking around for show. He was a resident of the property before we were and we feel very privileged that he allows us to co-habitate with him. He is the property mascot and much of our décor is inspired by his beauty. Rajiv welcomes two peahen brides Aishwarya and Mahiya.
Our chooks, Franca, Josephine, Alexis, Maxine, Christine and Maillie are back after an extended holiday! They provide you with farm fresh eggs.
