Converted Stables, a small stand alone private house sharing garden
I have always lived in Melbourne and grew up in the Eastern Suburbs originally moving to this side of town (North Carlton) when I was at university. I love the history and beautiful Victorian and Edwardian architecture of inner Melbourne not to mention the cafes and restaurants that we are surrounded by but also the amazing parkland. I am currently working from home but when I'm not I am out walking my golden retriever Harry in the nearby Edinburgh Gardens, cheering on the children who play football for Fitzroy and netball for Heights or enjoying a cup off coffee or glass of wine with friends.
Georgina purchased this House in 2013
Why Georgina chose North Fitzroy
We previously owned a smaller home a few streets away but as the children were desperate for a pet we needed more outdoor space. We love the area because it is quite but close to everything including amazing parks, transport, cafes and restaurants and because we love the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of North Fitzroy. After many years of looking we were lucky enough to found this amazing house. This house is over 130 years old and retained most of its historical features including The Stables. We weren't sure what we were going to do with The Stables but thought why not lease them out. The Stables had already been converted to an apartment and we just freshened it up. The space works well as it is quite private from the main house and the neighbors but with a shared garden in-between. The Stables also have their own private access.
What makes this House unique
Essentially a small house with its own kitchen. Enough room to relax and unwind. Close to transport. A private space with a shared garden. Many of our guest bring their dogs. We have a mixture of guests who are holidaying in Melbourne, here for work or attending conferences near by, visiting family or friends nearby and sometimes who are escaping home renovations.

The stables are a unique place to stay. Dog Harry greets you enthusiastically from the front door and then bolts down the hall to finish off the hello at the back door. Neat and clean. Nice comfortable bed with nice sheets. Georgina’s information package contains many interesting things to do in the city.
Comfortable and perfect location
This lovely bnb is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is at the rear of Georgina’s home which is in a perfect location for exploring Melbourne city and surrounds. It is great value for money.
Georgina was prompt with responses and welcoming.
I can recommend The Stables and will book it again.
A home away from home
Georgina was a lovely host who made us feel very welcome. We had our 2 dogs with us and The Stables and the little yard was perfect for our 6 night stay. The Stables was well furnished with everything we required and the pantry was equipped with more than we needed. We enjoyed watching Foxtel which we don't have at home too. The location is brilliant for dog walks along the parks and reserves of Merri Creek, the fabulous Edinburgh Garden and Darling Garden. Harry the host dog was a delight too. Thanks to Georgina for helping us with the little bits we needed for a Christmas lunch which we cooked at The Stables and ate on the courtyard garden table. We couldn't recommend The Stables more highly.
Fantastic stay - great location, well appointed kitchen, super comfy beds. We travel regularly with our dogs, and this was a great place for both humans and pets! Georgina, Harry and kids made us feel very welcome.
This was possibly the best accommodation we have booked. Right from the 1st communication with Georgina to us checking out it was a smooth process. The accommodation was clean, the bed was super comfy and having the added little touches like some food in the fridge and pantry made a late check in easy. The location is amazing. A very short stroll to the train station or to restaurants makes renting a car not a necessity. Would most definitely recommend and will most certainly stay here again.
Easy access to public transportation. Convenient for exploring Melbourne City. Very pleasant stay. Highly recommend.
North Fitzroy is an inner city suburb of Melbourne with mostly Victorian and Edwardian terrace houses. Surprisingly this suburb has amazing parkland including The Edinburgh Gardens and Merri Creek parklands and Capital City Bike Path as well as wide and quite streets (thanks to the creek & railway line) people drive around not through the suburb). As you would expect we have great public transport and is well known for great cafes and restaurants.
