Luxurious 2 bedroom cottage in the vines: Walk to cellar doors & restaurants

About Friederike Scheppach
Spending 25+ years in the corporate world, it was time to make a true 'sea, tree & wine' change - leaving Sydney behind and choosing McLaren Vale as our new home. McLaren Vale is unique amongst all the Australian wine regions, offering easy access from a capital city, being along a stunning coast line and yet, being surrounded by the Mount Lofty Range, being being easy to explore.
Friederike Scheppach purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Friederike Scheppach chose Blewitt Springs
Settling on McLaren Vale for our tree change was the easy part - finding the right property was way more difficult and it took us about 4 years to find the perfect place. We looked for something that encompasses the beauty of McLaren Vale, showcases the hills, the vineyards, has easy access to cellar doors, restaurants - but is far enough away from the township and main roads south that it is truly rural and the only noise you will hear is the birds.
What makes this Cottage unique
Whilst only 5km outside of McLaren Vale town, it feels like a world away. We believe Karawatha Cottages is unique in offering - hill side location with stunning views across vineyards and onto the Mount Lofty Ranges - each cottage features fully equipped kitchen, rainwater shower heads, luxury Sheridan linen and towels and a private deck to enjoy the views - within a leisurely stroll of less than 500m you will find 3 cellar doors, one with a full service restaurant; or, if you are bit more energetic, ask for our mud maps for our very own wine walking trail that takes past vineyards to 5 cellar doors and 2 restaurants

Had a lovely 2 day stay. The cotttage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The provisions suplied were more than adequate.
Georg was very helpful supplying information for local wineries and eateries.
The combustion heater was a nice touch with plenty of wood supplied.
Another day would have been nice.
The only recommendation would be to identify which cottage you have once the booking is confirmed as there are 3. Luckily Georg was on site to tell us, but if we had arrived late and needed to get the key from the key safe, it may have been entertaining
Thanks so much for your great review Mervyn. Always great to read when our guests enjoy what we have to offer - whether it's the breakfast supplies, the wood combustion heater and above all the over all experience with wineries in walking distance.
Will definitely check into the messaging, as the cottage should be called out in your booking confirmation from Home Away already. Plus, there is actually the text message that you have received from us on day of arrival, which includes the check-in instructions like key code and also the cottage name.
But if all fails, we always try to meet our guests on arrival (we do live on the property) to share local tips and recommendations!
Great for a weekend getaway
We stayed here for a weekend escape to enjoy the region's wines and just chill out. This was the perfect venue, the cabins are modern, well equipped and very comfortably furnished.
Our bed was very comfortable and our hosts delightful. We will return without a doubt.
