About Bernward Bucheler
I am hosting together with my wife Barbara. We live next door to the property and both work: I run a small business from home and Barbara works at the local hospital. Since our 4 children have flown the nest, we have space and love to have people around. We can be available for our guests to answer questions, tell them more about the area or just have a chat as needed, but will leave them to enjoy their holidays.
Bernward Bucheler purchased this House in 2016
What makes this House unique
The house was built in the 1980's as a comfortable family home in a quiet location at the end of a cul-de-sac. The spacious lounge/ family room features generous seating and a cosy wood fire which invites to relax. The country-style kitchen is well set up with generous bench top space, electric stove and oven, microwave, fridge & freezer and dishwasher and a large table for guests to enjoy meals together in front of a second wood fire in the kitchen which can be used for warming dishes. The family-sized bathroom includes a walk-in shower and a large bathtub. The garden offers opportunities to relax and watch the birds or play or explore and pick some berries when in season. The Angas River runs though the property and adds some wild beauty. This area is not landscaped, and the river is not fenced. Therefore children have to be supervised at all times when playing outside. Children are welcome to pat our goats and donkeys by arrangement. Guests will receive a welcome basket with local produce on arrival.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:

We had a very relaxing weekend and loved our stay.
Highly recommend this property, especially if you are attending a wedding at Longview.
Comfortable stay in a picturesque quiet setting
A very clean, comfortable and well appointed house. A quiet location within the township of Macclesfield. A lovely place to stay in the Adelaide Hills.
Fantastic well equipped home, walking distance to local wineries, pubs and Crystal Lake
We had a fantastic weekend away at Angas Springs. Barbara and Bernward were very warm and welcoming but also gave us privacy so we could relax and enjoy our time together as a family. We really appreciated the extra time they gave introducing our 6 year old to their donkeys, goats, chooks and duck. The home is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with pots/pans, cutlery, crockery etc. The shower has great water pressure and super hot water. The pantry also has all the basics needed PLUS they provided a generous welcome basket to get us started. It was the small touches that made our weekend so special, such as a little toy wheat bag waiting on our son's bed for him. We loved having the two fires which kept the home toasty despite it being very cold outside. There is also a Smart TV and some DVDs in the lounge room. The river runs along the bottom of the property which was fun to explore, the owners can also offer some advice on local walks which get you off the roads and along the river. You can easily walk down to Crystal Lake which has some fantastic sculptures. Longview Winery is a good walk away and we enjoyed spotting Kangaroos and farm animals along the way. We had a great meal at the Three Brothers Arms Hotel which is a short distance away as is another pub and café/shop. There is also a playground and skate park close by if travelling with kids. Highly recommend.
Very nice hosts. Nice and cosy house with fire places. Thankyou
Lovely host. Nice spot. A lovely quiet getaway.
A peaceful country retreat.
Thank you Bernward and Barbara for a lovely weekend getaway in Macclesfield with our family. The cottage was welcoming and cosy. The homemade biscuits were delicious, as was the bottle of red from Longview Vineyard! The log fires warmed us on the cold nights. And the surrounding farmland and animals were a delight for our children. Thank you again for your hospitality.
Warm winter getaway
We had a lovely weekend, enjoying a comfortable home with slow combustion warmth, and a generous supply of local fare, home grown apples and wine. Our hosts were very friendly and had thought of many details which made our stay enjoyable (crocs to wear inside, plentiful wood for the fire, great instructions). Although the bed was not in keeping with the comfort of the rest of the house, it served its purpose and we awoke with energy to explore the township, Crystal Lake and the local pub!
There are two historic pubs in Macclesfield and Longview Vineyard is located in walking-distance (1.6km away).
