Why Peter Dawson chose Long Beach
This is the house we built as a family over a number of years. A very good architect as well as a wonderful neighbour helped us. It has been a family getaway place for several decades. I bought the block from the original sub-division before services were connected. It has been renovated several times, most recently in 2017
What makes this House unique
The house occupies a unique position on the ridge overlooking the bay. I was able to select from a number of (undeveloped) blocks along the ridge. It is near the top of the ridge so catches all the breezes on hot days. It has magnificent spotted gum trees. It is a short walk to our very safe beach.

Great house for a coast escape
We spent a long weekend at this property and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the old reviews had concerned us about checking in and cleanliness but we had zero problems! There was adequate lighting to assist finding keys and getting in. The house was cleaned to an adequate level, with fully equipped laundry and cleaning supplies. We loved sitting watching the water and were even treated to some kangaroo sightings from the house. We will be recommending and would visit again
Thank you for your positive comments. We installed the lighting after reading the report that solar lights had failed, also have changed the cleaning arrangements to give a better assurance of satisfactory levels.
Lovely view. Did not know I was expected to clean house on vacation before leaving until after my arrival. Try to arrive in the day time, stairs not well lit due to solar lights not working. Upon arrival beds had to be made, damp towels were hung in bedroom. The 2 dryers took a very long time to dry towels and quit working on the morning we left. Got up at 0500 hours to start washing sheets for 5 people and towels, scrubbing floors etc. I arrived on Friday, Carol stopped by on Wednesday afternoon and spoke with my guest in the driveway. My guest asked Carol to go to the house to talk with me about my concerns, but she refused. Carol said a cleaning lady was coming at 1130. She dropped off a tank of propane. The grill was dirty and did not find any cleaning supplies to clean the grill, therefore I did not use the grill that I wanted to use. There is a nice dishwasher, but dishwasher soap was not provided. Hand soap bottles were less than 1/4 full. Toilet paper was provided. The downstairs had 6 dead flies and the floor had to be cleaned before anyone could unpack. It would be nice to have a place to sit a suitcase. The windows were clean and provided a stunning view of the woods and beach. I especially appreciated the window coverings when the setting sun was intense. Saw a wallaby the first morning. Saw Australian possums twice. The weather was pleasant and no air conditioning or heating was needed. The weather was very humid (98%), which contributed to difficulty drying towels. Old ice cream was in the freezer when we arrived and when we left. Furniture was comfortable. Houses are very close on both sides of the house.
Dear Deborah and Richard
I am sorry to learn of your concerns. We apologise for the barbecue and some shortages such as dishwasher tablets which we provide. About cleaning we set out clearly in the notes I sent you that the default option was for tenants to clean and do laundry but we also offer the alternative of having this done by arrangement with our manager, Carol, at the tenant's expense. Self-cleaning is common practice in the area and most tenants choose this option to save money. Your suggestion about suitcase supports is a good one and we will follow it up. Carol recently bought new batteries for the solar lights so I had thought they were OK. Sorry you had insufficient light and we will look into maybe putting in hard-wired lighting at the entrance. The problem of drying time is a tough one and we recently installed a high quality condenser drier and a back up conventional one. Some tenants leave towels on the clothes line or towel racks and we are happy with this practice.
I am glad that you enjoyed the view and wild life. It is a beautiful spot that our family has enjoyed for several decades.
This house is situated in an amazing location. Waking up to the spotted gums, lots of birds and the view on the Long Beach was a wonderful experience. The house is old but in good shape, the views are the best feature of this house. We enjoyed our stay.
Lovely retreat amongst the spotted gums and calming sounds of the waves on the shore at Long beach, below. Just need to brighten up night time entry walking from car to the front door as only one solar light was working. Had to be very careful and hard to find key in darkness 😆 but all else is great 👍Brian & Dayle
Great experience and great place
Beautiful nearby beach
Good size house with handy downstairs area for extra 2 people.
Hard to fit in doing washing and cleaning before leaving in the morning. Not everyone cleans real well.
Beautiful beach a short but not real easy walk away. Wonderful rock formations to explore.
If you’re not worried about a pristine house this one is ok.
The house was professionally cleaned before this booking. We talked with this pleasant lady who had found small things to criticise and she agreed that her standards might be unusual. We have responded to the problem of washing and drying with a new 9Kg dryer and a back-up second dryer. the washing machine is 10Kg and also new.
